Silverstone Air Penetrator AP123 Review

Silverstone Philippines gave yours truly a chance to test its new addition to their Air Penetrator lineup — the AP123. Unlike the standard Air Penetrator, this one not only boasts of performance like it's siblings but claims to run 66% quieter than the competition. Let's take a closer look, shall we?

There's really not much difference when compared to the standard Air Penetrator as far as the packaging is concerned. You get the standard specifications and features as well as the good old labels and taglines at the front. Let's open this baby, up.

What a pleasant surprise to see braided cables. Not only that, the AP123 comes with rubber mounting and the standard screws. The only downside I see from this scene is the fact that the fan uses a 3-pin fan connector which means, fan control via PWM is out of the window but not really a big deal. This is a fan that's being marketed for quiet performance so with or without fan control, it should be quiet right?

The famous grills that make it happen. This design allows for a straight forward air direction which makes this fan suitable for cases or components that require directed airflow like your graphics card, for example.

The AP123's bread and butter. The 3 distinct blades (highlighted in red) allows less turbulence to buildup as air is sucked into the grills and into your computer. How well does this perform? Silverstone made a video we can all watch.
