Yes walay capping ang Bayantel. Unlimited usage ka. Unlimited download hangtod sawa. Wala sad Fair usage policy. Dili pa jud congested.
Actually, BayanTel does have a Fair Use Policy. Every service-oriented company needs to have one in order to protect themselves from litigation. Depending on the company, the policy in question may be outlined in their Terms of Service (TOS), Terms of Use (TOU), Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), or Fair Use Policy (FUP). They all mean basically the same thing, but some companies split them into more specific sections (eg. have a separate TOS, AUP, and FUP) while others consolidate them into one document. In BayanTel's case, their fair use policy is outlined in their Acceptable Use Policy documentation, which can be found here: Bayan Telecommunications, Inc. - Acceptable Use Policy
Interestingly, their AUP contains this article:
Now, when telcos talk about "no caps", they're referring specifically to data caps (ie. limiting the data use of the consumer). Bandwidth caps (ie. bandwidth throttling) however, are still very much in play, and the article above seems to indicate that BayanTel reserves the right to do it (to be fair, every telco in the Philippines does it). As for data capping, BayanTel used to have one (which was more generous than most), until the NTC scrapped the data capping provision in their memo (which unfortunately doesn't cover mobile broadband3. Bandwidth Usage. BAYAN Internet, like other Internet service, is a shared- access medium. Accordingly, in order to provide a sustainable quality of Internet service for all customers, BAYAN shall intervene in regulating excessive use of bandwidth. What is deemed excessive will be determined by a number of factors including (but not limited to) the length of time which the excessive usage continues and the type of activity the Internet service was used for as well as the effect of the excessive usage on the service quality of other subscribers in the same general area. BAYAN's intervention for the promotion of fair use of the internet shall include but shall not be limited to, suspension or denial of service. The service may be reactivated provided appropriate arrangements are made between the customer and BAYAN.), causing BayanTel to remove it from their FUP.
That all said, BayanTel is still one of the better broadband providers out there, much better than Globe and PLDT (imho). If you're in a serviceable area and don't mind the somewhat higher cost, I say go for it.![]()
