Post for notebook owners: temp survey for 3rd gen (Ivy) intel based notebooks

    Hi Guys,

For those of you who own notebooks running on the 3rd gen (Ivy) mobile processors, unsa ang inyong procie and ang inyong idle and load temps?

I'm helping out a friend with his notebook and I think that his temps are a bit higher than usual even on idle.

    cheers!

Dont know if this could be of any help but you can make this a reference:

    Sandy bridge Pentium B940 2.0ghz
Idle: 47C (lowest, aircon off) 44C (aircon on, not long idle, not hibernate)
Load: 80C (Handbrake 2hrs encode) 77C (aircon on)

Prime95 may give lower result because the igp is not in use..

Id assume 45C idle and 75C load on an Ivy is quite decent..

here are the temps of my Lenovo ThinkPad X230 (i5-3210m)... room temp set @ 25 Deg C...

    @ stock speed (2.5 GHz)...
    idle (windows desktop for 30 mins): core 0 (59 Deg C); core 1 (58 Deg C)
    load (Prime95 for 1.5 hrs): core 0 (74 Deg C); core 1 (69 Deg C)

@ turbo boost speed (3.1 GHz)...
    idle (windows desktop for 30 mins): core 0 (53 Deg C); core 1 (52 Deg C)
    load (Prime95 for 1.5 hrs): core 0 (67 Deg C); core 1 (64 Deg C)

thanks lloyd_joy! it looks like that a 50+C idle temp is not so odd after all.

^ yeah, normal ra na bro for an iB notebook CPU... dili ta maka compare to apple to apple sa desktop equivalent nya kay gamay bitin gyud ni kaayo ang cooling system sa notebooks...

mine is i7 3630QM (turbo boost off on idle). idles around 50-55c without AC. that temp is perfectly normal.
converting videos on handbrake using 4 cores or playing a AAA game is at around 74-78c.
