Default New entry level gaming card? MSI HD 7730

MSI Releases Its Radeon HD 7730

Silently, MSI has released the Radeon HD 7730 graphics card. The card is aimed at budget-conscious buyers, so even though it comes with a limited feature set, it has a very competitive price.
The card will be based on the Cape Verde core; therefore, it has 512 stream processors, 32 TMUs, and 16 ROPs. The GPU core runs at 800 MHz and has no boost speed. As we've come to expect from such budget cards, the MSI Radeon HD 7730 only has 1 GB of GDDR memory, and it runs over a 128-bit memory interface at 4.5 GHz. Due to the conservative specifications though, the card is able to run off only the power that the PCIe port provides (75 W), and has a TDP of only 50 W.
External connectivity would be taken care of by a single Dual-link DVI port, an HDMI port and a DisplayPort.
The card will be priced between $64.99 and $79.99; therefore, it doesn't take part in the Never Settle Bundle promotion. Only the HD 7770 and above graphics cards come with the promotional material.

An MSI-branded HD 7730 is already doing rounds in the Chinese local market, indicating the SKU is designed for retail, and not just the OEM channel. The MSI card features 800 MHz core clock speed, with its memory clocked at 1125 MHz (4.50 GHz GDDR5-effective). With the HD 7730, AMD could also be going after NVIDIA's GeForce GT 640. It remains to be seen if the HD 7730 is a global product. The MSI card features retailer stickers from Taiwan-based retailers.

barato ra bitaw! but we still have to see real time gaming performance due to limited features. just hope we get the same fps compared to other 7700 line gpu.

based sa feedback sa net, this GPU is aimed to battle the GT 640... kaso, better if mag offer sila'g 2GB VRAM kay ang mga games, mo kaon ug almost 1.8GB as what i've experienced on my GTX 650 2GB in playing BF3... dako kaayo ni'g tabang labi na mag 1080p gaming... i assumed this is the reason why PLaying BF3 @ Ultra Preset is very playable in my mini-ITX rig (CPU is G840 w/ 8GB system mem)... a 2GB VRAM for the GPU is my personal requirement for a gaming rig...

anyway, nindot ning HD7730 if this will be priced @ 3K to 4K php price range... the same as the GT 640...

power consumption wise, this HD7730 is a "winner"... it's the lowest powered current technology GPU...

Nice idea ni da. If this crossfired to the fastest apu would be anywhere as fast a a single 650ti boost, it would be a very viable propositon

I did some analysis on my own, call it a noob's POV hehe. Leaked benchmarks ( 3dmark Firestrike ) indicates the A10-6700 performing similar to a GT 640. Assuming the difference in graphic performance between the A10-5700 and A10-5800k is identical sa A10-6700 and A10-6800k it would be safe to assume that the A10-6800k will perform in between GT 640 and GTX 650 maybe just a tad faster than the 640. Now the HD 7730 is expected to be slower than the HD7750 but faster than the HD6670. Based on gpu scores sa 3dmark firestrike and the scaling of hybrid crossfire sa trinity, I'd say an A10-6800k + HD7730 will perform near HD7770 performance. Now it's also possible that the HD7750 is hybrid crossfire capable, but I doubt it would go near GTX 650 Ti Boost hehe.

With a card like a 650 that would probly be memory stack overflow because of the memory bandwidth. Some caching would be inevitable with 128 bit of channel.

Been researching about this and Battlefield 3 apparently takes advantage of extra vram whenever available but does not demand it. Give it 2gbs vram and it will simply use it. Give it 3gbs and it will happily gobble up 2.5gbs. It does not even free up idle vram cache thus appearing as if it uses that much. The link below shows how much vram normally games use. Some of those below with 2gbs or more are most probably memory leaks (poor optimization)

VRAM Useage tests - Overclock3D Forums

I can bring down my bf3 ram usage to 850-950mb of ram by enabling /disabling certain settings in the game and in the system and still play @ 45-50 average modified ultra settings.

Nonetheless, vram amount could help with narrower bandwidth video memory as was the case years ago with a 512mb gts250 comparing with the older 8800gtx ultra. So a 1gb version was released.

    Just sharing. Cheers!!

^ basically, 2GB VRAM will not of a big help for a big fps on the game per se, but surely, it will help... in terms the visual quality of the game graphics, it would surely help. it is true that we can play high fps on BF3 if we'll lessen some visual setting... as this is a fact on all games... but, if the GPU have more VRAM that it can use, the better would be the graphics of the game... but again, we can not compare it to another class... we can compare it to its own sibling and that's the 1GB variant... if i have a 1GB GTX 650 here, I would be glad to share the review comparison vs the 2GB variant... but I don' t have... nindot unta para i-share ang actual comparison kun naa ba gyud difference... mas better ni kay naa gyud data na 1st hand experience...

DDR5 is so fast, that even offerings from different companies with different mem bandwidth performs differently... this is the case between the GTX 660 Ti and the HD7870 (Pitcairn and Tahiti LE) and HD7950 (Tahiti)... GTX 660 Ti's bus bandwidth is only 192 bit while the HD7870 is 256 bit and HD7950 is 384 bit... but we all know that the GTX 660 Ti is faster over all compared to the HD 7870 and is goin' neck to neck with the HD 7950... give and take ni sila duha in gaming performance... but if we will only look on the bus bit, no contest kaayo ang GTX 660 Ti... pwerte layo'a nya... dili ni lingi-on gani if ang bus width ug ang onboard VRAM ang tan-awon lang vs the HD7950... as what was happened before..

^ hehehe... mao gyud bro... kara-an man gud ang GT 630 ug technology... it's a rebranded GT440... ... bisan ang GT 640 mas hinay ani nya for sure kay DDR3 ra man ang mem gamit sa GT 640 bisan Kepler sya... mas nice ni sya (HD 7730) sa GT 640 for sure kay naka DDR5 naman...
