Raid Configuration

Hi ppl can you help me with my problem? ...
Machine: 2 Xeon Processor ,4GB Ram ,6 (36.4 15K SCSI drive)
OS : RedHat AS 4
Database: Oracle10g

Im having problem with my raid level configuration ... heres what i have in mind
OS : Raid level 1 (2 disk)
DB: Raid level 1+0 (4 disk)
or
OS & DB : Raid level 1+0 (6 disk)

any suggestion would be a great help!

I prefer your first option. OS and database should be in separate raid configuration.

I'd suggest you put your OS in a 2-Disk RAID-0 array while your db should be in a RAID-0+1 or RAID-5 Array... that machine would make a good db server for iSTORYA :P

same here...your db should be put in raid 5 for security reason and then your OS will be any of the configuration.

just another suggestion:
OS: RAID 1 (2 Disk)
DB: RAID 5 (3 Disk min.)
Global Hot-spare: 1 Disk (auto-swap in event of disk failure in OS or DB disk array)

common configuration in big enterprise DB servers.

a lot other foreign companies i know off...I work on most of this companies as external network/system consultant before...nah later if necessary...nda will shut me up
