    Default Re: N95 firmware improvements

after several weeks of using the n95 heavily ive come to some very intresting and not so intresting realization...
NOTE: all apps im using are preinstalled or apps provided free by nokia.com to keep my review as close to out of the box experience and capability of the phone as it can be
no hack programs added. no paid programs added.

    INTRESTING...

great feature set...the best in its class...most complete all around...a level on its own right now.
fantastic multimedia...slideshow with kensburn effect...brilliant 2.6inch colorful lcd...
5mp camera with flash and good set of adjustable setting...lens cover works great!
VGA@30fps video "dvd like" quality...(hate the lens cover on the n93/i)
    Video Centre+wifi is superb!
Voice recorder works great way better than N73 builtin recorder...
    GPS works great...tracks well...
    Builtin Maps software works great...
    FAST...very responsive...fantastic graphics...
Menu Icon changes if item is active...(adds an arc on the upper right side of the icon if still active)
No reboot during changing network (dual mode, GSM, UMTS)...
No reboot using Dual Sim module...
Loud & Clear stereo speakers...3.5 audio jack is superb!!!
Great phone, clear calls, strong signal...displays call duration as the call is going on (useful for those on the budget and wants to make the most out of a min call)
with Team Suite, multiple txt and conference calls are so much fun...without Team Suite, its still easy enough
Cable Connetion is the best...it ask for cable mode once cable is attached but the last mode use is automatically active so if you are like me who uses mass storage mode(transfer mode) then you dont need to select everytime...just plug and play not only that...mass storage mode doesnt disable the phone...it doesnt go offline...i still get all my calls and msg unlike other Nseries say N73...
complete connectivity (wifi, irda, bluetooth, standard mini usb port!!)
Gallery makes thumbnails super fast...faster than any other nokia ive seen...
Autorotate photos is available (although i dont use it hehehe)...
nice set of settings and edit functions you can do to manipulate the photos on the phone itself...
Landscape mode in all apps works!

    NOT SO INTRESTING...

can't turn off the red recording light during video capture...macro video is out of the question as it produces red tint in effect...
can't turn on LED light during video recording (nightmode just bumps up the sensitivity)...
can't use LED lights as touch like with N93 by pressing flash button...
NO divert notice when i get a diverted call...tsk tsk!
and i would have really wanted the number of the caller to show up besides the name...
SMS to multiple numbers in one name isnt so easy as the communicator or S.E. phones for example....
64mb RAM is just not enough!!!! reboots once i use up too much of its features and running a lot of apps...much of the photos and music...but if im careful, its pretty stable
Gallery startup isnt as fast if more than 400 photos are in my phone. currently i have over 1200 photos
CANT assign video clips i take to be added automatically to VIDEO album while assigning photos i take to be added automaticaly to PHOTOS album...they share the same assigned album
battery life is limited to a day. using heavily on the wifi, GPS, music via bluetooth headset, etc. really eats up the battery
its not hard for me to finish up the battery in less than 6 hours...puts this in the range of P800 and P900 for me
although still better than any laptop thats for sure...still i would have wanted a longer lasting battery life!
Barcode reader is useless!(or i just dont know how to use it hehehe)
Wish meron more detailed maps program for CEBU...navfone only has manila in great detail

    Those two are my favorites

The Bad: After installing the latest firmware update you'll loose the ASIA MAPS application. And it's not found on the CD. The ASIA MAPS application is just a JAVA app. Using the GPS is really really vague for me...

java noh? install the game again, then delete...so far thats the only way iv found.
remember to delete the java apps you install before you upgrade specially those you installed in the memory card...
i notice after a format or upgrade, those installed java apps in the memory card are installed automatically and error na siya, it wont work and it wont delete...

version 12.0.013 tested ko na...i like...faster...better GPS...louder sounds...3.5g shows up below the signal bar for hsdpa...
the only negative thing bout it is the slideshow photos appear soft unlike before when it was tac sharp!
