Need Your Help Re- Pastor's Refusal to Sign Marriage Contract!!!

Pardon me but I don't know where to turn to now. I hope that the wonderful people of Cebu will be very kind to help me on this.

Recently, a flower shop owner advised me to get a pastor instead of a judge for my sister's wedding. They'll take care of contacting the pastor. Btw, we gave 2,500 for the pastor as agreed upon prior to the wedding day.

The wedding was arranged and the ceremony was held a few days ago.

BUT THE PASTOR DOES NOT WANT TO SIGN THE CONTRACT!

Unless we add another 1,000 pesos just for the signature!

Are pastors like that? After us giving 2,500 pesos, requiring another 1,000 pesos just for the signature AFTER the wedding is over and we no longer have any choice? He, together with the flower shop owner and the coordinator, says that the 2,500 that was asked from us does not include the signature!

We have the pictures to prove that the pastor really officiated the wedding. Now, my poor sister's marriage contract cannot be registered because of the pastor's refusal to sign.

Aren't pastors or any officiating minister or judge suppose to INCLUDE affixing their signature on the marriage contract as part of the consummation of their duty?

Please help!!!

first you have to know which congregation he belongs to. ask around...pastors usually know one another. hope that helps.

I dont think he's a real pastor. and normaly, pastors will not officiate a wedding if the couple is not from his denomination.

i can't help but laugh (at the pastor)... pasaylo-a ta.. i couldnt believe na things like this would happen in real life.. anyway, i agree with Ms. Beau, check if real ba ni ang pastor.. you could always sue for fraud and false identity equal to the amount you spent sa wedding or even more.. hehehe.. bitaw, kalain pud anang mga tawhana oi, maynta magaba-an na sila to the max!

I am a christian and in our church, walay bayad!

But this was done in Lapu-Lapu and our church doesn't have any licensed elder to officiate the wedding there.

I initially wanted a judge but the flower shop owner from Mactan told me that since i'm a christian, go for a christian pastor to officiate it. And she also told me that 8,000 daw fee if I decide to go for a judge.

I really could not believe that these things are now happening to us!!! My gosh, it's really like a bad dream!!!

I'm withholding the names of those 3 people involved --- the pastor, the flower shop owner and the coordinator, until I can't hold it. I'm still stretching my patience.

If nothing good happens, I just might have to go to tri-media or to court, or both!!!

Btw, just an update, I talked with some lawyers already. I was told that BY LAW, THE PASTOR IS OBLIGATED TO SIGN OR ELSE HIS LICENSE WILL BE REVOKED!

The challenge now is how to meet up with the pastor. Will he show up?

Are there other opinions or suggestions or advices here?

try talking with the pastor, ngano ngayo pa xa ug 1k.. maybe na-ipit na sa budget xa.. ting crisis pud karon..
