I think you should first study Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) then go for the C++ programming.

Start first the programming on Java or C#.

You may want to learn OOP theory first or in parallel with C++. If you won't, you will have "what-the-bleep" moments while learning that language. Like me, you may end up cursing the book's author instead. I was like, "what-the-bleep is polymorphism? Why do I need an object? what-the-bleep is an inheritance?"

You know... something like that. Hehehe.

If this is your first language (VisualBasic and variants thereof don't count), you might want to learn C first instead. It's easier.

the best way for you to learn is to work on a project. plan to write a program in C or C++ or whatever language you wanna learn. you may finish reading and studying the whole book but you can never really grasp it unless you work on it. with programming, you learn by practice, experience, and most of all mistakes.

try to find what your office needs, or school, or friends, or even in your home. try to find something that could need a program. work for free for now. you'll learn a lot.

and from my own experience, you don't have to finish a book before you start on your project. and with programming books, don't read it like a novel. = )

OOP is object oriented programming.. it's a programming paradigm.. there are other approaches to programming, such as top down approach and functional/modular programming.. the languages, like C or C++ or Java are what you use to write programs. Each language has its own set of constructs that either lets you inherently support the different paradigms or lets you work around it..

wla ko kasabot bro.. nalibog jd ako kutaw coz 1st of all ky nangayo ko og advice dri kng unsa jd maayo mag practice when ur going to learn a program just like ur first time to learn a program. but they said just start to learn first the C/C++ programming ky para dli ko maglisod og study sa java coz im planning to learn java. so thats all I take first and study a C/C++ before I start to learn java. but now I really confuse kung unsa jd ang sak2?

bro, there's no such thing as a pre-requisite language for learning another language..
whoever told you that, na-biased to xa sa iyang experience.

if you wanna learn java, then go ahead, pick up a book on java. it will teach you the basics, language constructs, data types, conditional flows, etc.
if you want to learn how to be a good programmer, that's a different story.

there are lots of people who claim to know java, but don't know jack how to use it to solve programming problems in the industry sector.
same goes for those who claim to know C/C++... heck, i've met programmers who know only visual basic or php, but have better approach
at writing programs than those who claim to know C/C++.

as for what language is best to use, my advice is master one language, (i do mean MASTER, murag ZEN ba.. hehehe), and the rest are easy to pick up na lng.
its not the weapon, its how the warrior wields it.
