The triangular designs looks to give Apple's circular structure up the road in Cupertino a run for its money.

Graphics chip maker nVidia has confirmed it is going to build a massive new campus in Santa Clara.

The location is directly across the street from its current campus on San Tomas Expressway near Highway 101.

“We’re absolutely bursting at the seams,” Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said in a blog post.

The matching buildings are triangular – and “will capture the ambition and imagination of our people. It will stand at the intersection of science and art, just as our work in visual computing does.”

The new campus was designed by Harvard trained architect Hao Ko.
At one million square feet, it will be 20 percent larger than Apple’s current headquarters at One Infinite Loop.

Nvidia started 20 years ago as a three-person startup.

It has grown to 8,000 employees who work at dozens of locations around the world including Taipei, Moscow, Shanghai, Paris, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangalore, Helsinki and Boston.

The company's core business is graphics chips for PCs, and has made some inroads in the tablet market.
