Lightbulb Earth Defense VS Space Invaders/Rocks/Meteors, etc.

Ok. After the recent meteor shower that went a little bit too far for some parts (ahem Russia), I'm wondering what exactly are top world governments doing to protect our only planet against these things?

I'm asking this now because I had the impression that the US and Russia should have had implemented defense systems by now to detect and protect them from such events - maybe even enemy missiles if need be.

I thought these countries would somehow launch a rocket of sorts to intercept and prevent these space elements from harming them?

Anybody here has a say on this?

of course ila jud nang i intercept if mo igo sa kalibutan, ang problema lang is ma detect ba nila ang ubang bato nga gamay?

-----, naka sulod, kay wala man na detect nila.

for them gamay ra tong batoha para ma detect.. around 15m, compared to a 50m nga ni agi hours after the incident

    according sa kani nga link..

Russian Meteor Blast Bigger Than Thought, NASA Says
"We would expect an event of this magnitude to occur once every 100 years on average," Paul Chodas of NASA's Near-Earth Object Program Office at JPL said. "When you have a fireball of this size we would expect a large number of meteorites to reach the surface and in this case there were probably some large ones."
diba naa man to study nga ang naka wipeout sa dinosaurs kay meteor pud nga ni hit sa earth?

Meteorite Impact Rendered Dinosaurs Extinct Millions of Years Sooner Than Previously Thought

so if ato ibutang ilang findings nga a few years given mahitabo ug balik ang asteriod hit phenomenon. dili pud siguro layo nga katong asteroid nga naka wipeout sa dinosaur would one day reoccur and hit the earth? possible ba?

ahh... dili diay na madetect ang 15m lang nga size... so samot na siguro ng mga cruise missiles?

or could it be the combination of speed + size? paspas ra ayo ni sila para madetect?

basin sa current technology karon 15m is already considered small, plus ang speed pa nya,, and imagine sa space ka mangita in ani kadak a nga object.,

and not sure pod if mosaba sila if maka detect silag dakong bato, nga naay high chance nga mo hit sa kalibutan

ako ako rani nga opinyon. hehe

Chodas said they did not detect the Russia asteroid because it came out of the daytime sky. These are nearly impossible to find ahead of time because telescopes can only spot asteroids during the night.
