pyts ra niung Toshiba brand... made by Hitachi (China) man ni... Japanese technology & Chinese manpower... yay... kaning mga japs ra ba, bisan raw materials nila, usually, sa Japanese Companies pud sila mamalit... most of them, naa diri sa China ang manufacturing plant nila or ang manufacturing plant sa subcons nla. pwerte ka strick-to'g requirements. sige lang ko bun-og ani nila raba... dugay kaayo mno close sa transactions... kun dili maka pasar ang documentation sa Quality & Reliability, dili gyud mo sugod ug palit... hehehe...

wala man ko maka suway aning 3.5" HDD nila... sa akoang history in PC hobby, kaisa ra ko namatyan ug HDD...that a seagate barracude (5,400 rpm & 40 GB IDE)... way back in the early 2000... after that, wla na gyud... even my Samsung 40 GB SATA (1st release sa mga shops sa Cebu), buhi pa kaayo diri sa akoang NAS...

palahi ta dili napud WD or Seagate for a HDD...

not sure pa if WD will stop Hitachi's Subcon business (even Hitahi's own brand HDDs) and convert it to WD subcon business (or totally WD brand HDDs)... if mao ni ang direction nila, then, this would be part of the last batch sa Hitachi in manufacturing for other brands (for sure, in million units)... in this case, for Toshiba...

nag research ko aning na tripan nko na Toshiba DT01ACA200 (2TB HDD... 7.2K rpm)... nice news... dual platter ni sya @ 1TB per platter w/ the usual 64MB cache... tempting kaayo... at a price (currently on sale), lower than WD 2TB Green (WD20EARX)... yay, lami ni whapak-kon dah... hehehe... it's not a speed demon though but for a personal NAS application (even on RAID), this would fit the bill...
