Default Lazada elevated the Local E-commerce industry in a flash – A Review

I remember a couple of years ago; People here in the Philippines that feel like doing online shopping go to online classified ads. Two key players on local online classifieds scene are Ayosdito and Sulit. Their website became an avenue of resellers and vendors that seeks to get extra exposure for free. However, for the cons of these setup is that online consumers don’t usually trust sellers on the get go. Especially if the payment method setup is that consumers need to pay the vendor first in advance thru bank deposit before they can actually get the item shipped on their desired shipment address. The fraud and scam rate for this type of setup on online local classifieds is really high. It made E-commerce penetration much tougher.

So how did local E-commerce industry soared high here in the Philippines? It’s all thanks to online market place like Lazada. What they offered to the local online consumers is beyond possible prior to their launch. One of their key points of success is their launching “Cash on Delivery” payment method. This allows non-card holders to have a taste of the online market share, as traditional online transactions can only be done if you have credit card or Paypal type account. That’s not all that define them; they actually offered free delivery service which is a big deal here in the Philippines. We always want something that is free and to make delivery free is something that Filipino’s we’ll grab on. It’s like your just ordering food from a fast food chain, which is already a normal thing here.

Lazada is one of the first online shopping malls here in the Philippines that offer huge selection of items. Think about it? What if a mall can offer everything they have on their stores online and make it available on free delivery for free? That’s what Lazada is about! They bring the mall to your homes. All you need to have is a internet capable device and internet - you’re set! What’s also good about Lazada is that they actually offer the same warranty with the traditional malls on all of their items.

Compared to successful local online classified ads here in the Philippines where online users use it as a venue to look for sellers and buyers, Lazada is a direct reseller to us. We’re assured that were only dealing with Lazada Philippines and that no scams or frauds may arise since they are registered and legally operating here in the Philippines. They even register their promos and contests at DTI. This only shows how legit this online business is. They even started penetrating TVC. I remember just last week I saw their TV ad run during primetime on ABS-CBN. What’s amazing is that this company has only existed for less than a year. Their growth is incomparable to any other international online business company that came to our country. Lazada only shows how committed and dedicated they are on reaching their goal.

    Wow, that's nice.

But I think, it's really a huge advantage to use COD in online transactions. I never trusted online payments, as I am working in an online site right now and have seen the bad experiences of the buyers to pay first before the item can be delivered.

I have tried zalora, cash on delivery, and it was so convenient! I think they're just sister company. I wish Lazada will also open an office/warehouse here so that we can surely get the free shipping without minimum purchase since it would be province shipping only.

The only disadvantage in this online site is that their items are all branded, or high end, so the prices are a bit higher than local stores (tabi2x stores), and the sizing chart is a bit confusing.

Nice unta pero mahal. As in-super duper mahal.
EPM1 cost around 22.5k sa other stores while sa lazada, naka 18% OFF pero it's still cost 27.7k.

Sulit.com.ph is nice but doesn't offer the security you can get at ebay. Sira items na natanggap mo? Negative feedback lang and magagawa mo and it doesn't return your money.

Ebay is useless here in PH because nobody sells there with a bid, only buy now. I like ebay because you can always get your money back if the seller is not honest with his merchandise.
