    Default CIT-U grammatically incorrect?

No offense to the institution who produces countless of professionals in various fields but I couldn't help it but notice, the moment the school upgraded to a university status that the name CEBU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY is grammatically incorrect. Why? Mr. Webster defined INSTITUTION as "an educational institution and esp. one devoted to technical fields" while UNIVERSITY is defined as "an educational institution designed for instruction, examination or both, of students in many branches of advanced learning; institution of higher learning". Clearly, the name is redundant and obviously a grammatical error that might reflect to the school's reputation as a learning institution. Hope this will not offend the school and the students..my apologies..just trying to help.

dugay na man na cya na issue i think the school already attended to that matter, they already answered that question why ing ana ilang name gihapon. but never the less ang una unta ana mo badlong kay ang institution/ agenct who gave permission to the school to be a university since they never mind or they never sanction it probably it is ok...

redundancy? i can agree to that

as to the argument of whether the name is grammatically incorrect, no comment. i may have the capacity to criticize but i am no genius to that matter. but still if i have my way, CIT-U should have decided to take off institute over university since now it is the new status of the school.

they have chosen man daw sa una CEBU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY but unfortunately, naunhan sila sa CEBU STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (CSCST) na mao na karon ang nagdala ana nga ngalan.

i'm sure they could find a new name for them. ang transition lang ang lisod tingai ana.

they could have use like say UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY - CEBU

MIT is a university but its not placed in their official name. They know its grammatically incorrect but its a name, it can go beyond grammar.

bai pasabton tika ha.. mag bisaya lang ko kay di ko jud ko maayo ug english. hahaha!! sauna CIT raman ta na which naa meaning (cebu institute of technology) pero karun na university na ang school gi tangtang na nila ang acronym sa C.I.T. then gipa bilin gihapon nila ang "CIT" BUT..... wala na siyay meaning.. so ang sakto jud ana kay CIT-Univeristy( way meaning ang CIT kundi represent ra sa school) sayop na ang mo ingon ug Cebu Institute of Technology University... ang sakto kay "CIT-UNIVERSITY" gets?

Why do people say sorry after they've ripped your heart. LOL

And isn't it interesting to see newbies (post 1) posting "sensitive" matters. I can only assume these are old members not wanting to lose their faces create throw away accounts.

Also, not to derail the previous comment nga today's CIT is meaningless, I'm not totally convinced ani nga explanation. For years, geh gamit sa management ang CIT acronym to gain fame and fortune and then suddenly becomes useless? If it's useless, why not kill it? I'm sure there's more to that.

But what holds, after all, ang CIT ray nag lahi nga nag gamit og 5.0 as the highest grade.

@ botoy0917 I agree with cloudduster naa ba acronym nga way meaning... @cabrill I think way institution nga naa authority to sanction or approve sa name sa usa ka institution except if morally unacceptable. The school has all the right to retain its name pero medyo di lang mau paminawon esp nga school ni.
