it's getting HOT in here.. I hope the DOJ and PDEA could get into the bottom of this NOW rather than later. I'm worried about one/all of the 11 suspects getting killed "accidentally" before the truth comes out in the open.

Shabu lab accused willing to squeal

One of 11 people accused of running a shabu laboratory in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City is willing to talk, a congressman revealed on Sunday.

Joseph Yu, however, has one condition for his cooperation - that the charges against him be dropped

Representative Antonio Cuenco (Cebu City, south district), told reporters that Yu was willing to identify and prosecute local contacts involved in running the laboratory, which was raided by authorities in 2004.

Cuenco admitted that Yu's proposal was difficult to accommodate since Yu is a principal suspect in the case.

"He was the one who arranged to rent the warehouse and to buy the (shabu) ingredients," Cuenco said.

By law, only the least guilty among the accused may be made into a state witness.

Prosecutors are already eyeing another accused, Hung Chin Chang, to be a state witness.

Hung, a British national of Chinese descent who also went by the name Simon Lao, allegedly put together the shabu laboratory in behalf of the alleged financier, Calvin de Jesus Tan.

Cuenco, vice chairman of House committee on dangerous drugs, said Yu could be the key to identifying locals who were involved in putting up and running the shabu laboratory.

While an acquittal was not likely to be given to Yu, Cuenco said his penalty could definitely be lowered should he be found guilty.

While manufacturing shabu carries a penalty of life imprisonment, Cuenco said Yu could serve a sentence of just six months to 12 years.

The congressman said Yu first raised his offer last year. The Department of Justice and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency are already studying the proposal.

this is good news. maynta ang kato local officials na responsable nganu naa na sa dakbayan sa mandaue ang shabu lab maapil ug ka ngan!! maynta..... kaning balitaa dili unta ni dapat e pa hilom kay dako kaau ning uwaw sa mandaue....
