New working hours for hospital employees as mandated by DOLE.

Hello Istoryans,

I am working as a health professional in a private hospital and we are told by our heads for the new working hours of all employees in Central Visayas (as what told) working in hospital institution as mandated by the DOLE and it will take effect on January of 2013.

Hospital employees will now work 12 hours in two shifts (instead of 3 shifts) from 6 am - 6 pm and 6 pm to 6 am contrary to the traditional shifting hours which is 6 am - 2 pm, 2 pm - 10 pm, and 10 pm - 6 am.

They said that it will be now 3 days work (12 hours) and 4 days off interval with a total of 14 days of work in a month. and 16 days total of day offs.

Have you heard about this news from DOLE or someone else?

our scheduling will start on Dec. 1 of this year (maybe testing phase). and ang tanan hospitals kay mag start na jud tanan karon January 1, 2013. Some say maayo, pero ang uban pud dili kauyon.. para nko. okeyhan pud ko kong ing.ani para mka less sa expenses. Pero ang salary will remain the same (gamay gihapon). haha

Nindot ang 12hrs but murag lisod ni para sa mga nag work sa government hospitals (big hospitals im refering to like mga traning hospitals).
Mura naman gani ko mamatay kada duty nako ug 8hrs sa hosp.
I work in a regional hospital diri sa Bohol, grabe ang workload esp. mga tanan indigent ug low income earners diri tanan hansak sa amo hospital.
Pero kato mga naa sa district hospitals, hayahay kau sila, same ra mi sweldo mga casuals pero sila didto lingkod2 ug handay2 lang. Kung naay pasyente, refer dayon diri sa amo hospital. Pak
