A broken
Dell Latitude D531 Keyboard really puts a damper on your laptop use. Without a functioning keyboard, you can only navigate using your mouse pad, unable to type anything. Fortunately, laptop manufacturers like Dell offer replacement keyboards at reasonable prices and you can order them online. You can replace the
Dell Latitude Keyboard in less than fifteen minutes with minimal laptop repair knowledge.
Set up a clean, clear workspace on a level surface. Turn off your laptop and remove any attached devices, like a printer or a modem. Remove all the power input to your laptop, including the battery and the AC adapter.
Open your laptop so that the display is lying at a 180 degree angle to the keyboard base. This will give you access to the center control cover. Insert the scribe into the small indentation that can be found on the right side of the center control cover and the slowly pry it off.
Unscrew the two screws that hold the old
Dell Latitude D531 Keyboard in place and set them aside. Holding the two extended tabs at the top of the old keyboard, gently tug it out of the keyboard connector located under the palm rest.
Install the replacement keyboard into the keyboard connector by sliding it in place. Screw in the two screws to secure the replacement keyboard and pop the center control cover back into place.
