    Default Apple IMac

What can you say about the new Imac?

    Apple iMac 2012 officially unveiled

Apple has lifted the lid on the iMac 2012 all-in-one PC, with a new slimmer design.

The look of the 2012 iMac is jaw-dropping, featuring a super-thin display that's just 5mm thick at its edge. This is 80 percent thinner than the previous-generation model.

The 2012 iMac comes in two sizes, a 27-inch model with 2,560 x 1,440 display and a 21.5-inch iMac with 1,920 x 1,080 display. Both use IPS displays like the new 13-inch MacBook Pro for superior viewing angles. Just as important in normal use, the displays are now coated to reduce reflections by up to 75 percent.

These new computers offer up to 3TB of storage, and Intel Core i5 processors, using GeForce graphics. The 2012 iMac offers the option for what Apple calls a Fusion drive, which packs both a 128GB flash SSD and either a 1TB or 3TB drive, into a single unit. It's nothing new, but Apple says it provides performance very near that of a pure SSD drive.

The bodies of the new iMacs offer four USB 3.0 ports, providing respectable connectivity.

The 21.5-inch iMac starts at $1299 in the US, coming with 8GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, 8GB of RAM and a 2.7GHz Core i5 CPU. If you're willing to spend a little more, the 27-inch iMac starts at $1799, netting you a 2.9GHz Core i5 processor, GeForce GTX 660M GPU and 1TB hard drive. They'll be available from December. We'll be back with UK price details as they're released.

    At long last. Nana jud.

Very elegant and thin. Improved Processor. Good thing they removed the optical drive kay mao to ang naka baga. Wala na jud gamit kaayo optical ron.

The very highlight for me is the FUSION DRIVE. It's a combination of SSD and HDD

^^ same size ra bro. Almost same pricing rasad na sa current iMac ron (mahal gamay gamay). Nov pa ma release. Dali rana maabot sa pinas unlike iPhones.

The new iMac is amazingly thin, yet it offers faster quad-core performance, up to 60 percent faster graphics, ultrafast Thunderbolt, and the all-new Fusion Drive option. So it’s powerful enough for a design studio, production house, or science lab. And beautiful enough for any room in your home.

    TECH SPECS: 21.5-inch and 27-inch. 1,920 x 1,080 and 2,560 x 1,440 for the two sizes.

Pyter kaayo ang Fusion Drive kay ang OSX nag sit sa SSD and other important (mostly built in) apps nya naa ka option to transfer the apps to HDD.

Mao man gud ang concern sa SSD kay limited capacity nya mahal. HDD dako ang capacity then cheaper but hinay ang compare sa SSD. With Fusion Drive you will enjoy the benefits of SSD's blazing fast read/write and HDD capacity handling.

Thankful pud ko na wala nag Retina kay pirti jud ni ka mahal considering the size.

Ill buy this iMac not for the spec but for the design! i dont get the idea with the SSD combined with HDD. Why not SSD all the way? pffft! greedy!

^^ could be because of the limited capacity that SSD can handle bro.
Just imagine the price gap between the 128G and 256G SSD, it is too expensive. With HDD you can go up to 3Tera in iMac.

A bunch of iMac users install SSD, remove their optical drive and replaced the bay with HDD. OS and other mostly used apps are saved in SSD and a whooping amount of pics, movies, music, docs, other apps, etc. to the HDD. Basically taking advantage of both worlds.

Time will come the SSD will be as cheap as the HDD nowadays with same capacity.

^^ I guess so but maybe for a right price (sarcasm) people will still buy it. Eventually, HHD will be outdated/phase-out like floppy and compact disk drive.
