    Default Banilad Foodland Flyover

    Good Day to ALL,

This is a seemingly railroaded project by the DPWH. There are other alternate solutions better than the flyover. We cannot keep on building flyovers at every city intersection. This is clearly an symptom of poor urban planning. Here is what the Coalition affected by this flyover propose. Please visit this website. Read and understand and make your decision. We are appealing for public support.

flared intersection definitely does not work in banilad/foodland intersection.... the flared keppel intersection in ayala is working because the traffice there is not really heavy... i've done so many studies in different cities in bangkok (the land of heavy traffic)... and in the end a fly-over still has to be built in a flared intersection because fly over really helps in heavy traffic....

to those establishments affected by this soon to be built fly over... just for a minute.. think of the so many people na naapektuhan sa sobrang traffic sa intersection na yan... kukunte lang kayo compared sa maka benefit ng fly over na ito.

i dont think this would really work. daghan gyud kaayo sakyanan mangagi diha especially early morning and late afternoon. maybe one way to minimize traffic is remover the jeepny stop sa foodland dapit. almost every PUJ nga moagi diha mohunong gyud maski naa sa tunga sa dalan. plus inig abot sa country mall hunong na pud. mosamot ang traffic

    @ kots_itsko
We are not against the flyover perse... so as long as it is done right. A 2 lane flyover landing in a traffic light 120 m away just does NOT seem right. If you have travelled around the world and made studies on traffic as what you have said.... Can you sight an example that a flyover of that kind is being used in any other city in the world... Only in cebu will you find it. If you have a better solution to the proposal please dialog with the group ... as we need as much consultants to lend their time. For the information of everyone, the traffic count in the intersection of keppel is more or less similar to the one in foodland. Yet that intersection if far more effecient. Fly over does not reduce the number of vehicles plying the route and you might know.. sheer volume of vehicles causes traffic. The study does not end at a flared intersection... as it needs an alternate route (asia town link) for the whole system to work.

IHMO, flyover will not solve the traffic problem in that area because of the volume of vehicles are constantly increasing due to number of establishments nga naa diha na area esp dapit sa usc-tc. if you try to look at it in the bigger picture not just on that area , from the city going to talamban ni bottle neck na cya, start ug 3-4 lanes sa btc then 2-3 lanes sa foodland, then 1-2 lanes pag abot sa complex sa banilad hangtod nana dd2 sa eskina canduman (if apil ang mga nag pa ugat 1 lane nalang) then ni dako 2-3 lanes nasad dapit sa talamban.

for me road widening is the solution 3-4 lanes road from btc straight to canduman . sorry for those establishments na wala enough space for their parking area.

A flyover will not solve the traffic problem in that area, unless it is extended all the way to maybe UC. The root cause of the problem is the jeepneys (no hard feelings to those taking them)and maybe a few private owned cars that makes a stop to virtually anywhere! As for the PUJs, I know that they need get passengers, but when they make a stop, no matter how they do it, its a jam!

    Long term solution: not just for the banilad area.;
    1. a freeway system one crossing from consolacion area to minglanilla and one crossing srp to banilad area. this may call for a bigger budget but you have the pork barrel, lets place that in good use.
    2. a good public transport system, its only in the philippines that you see PUJs!(or maybe in other 3rd world countries like thailand)but if you go to the US or London, even asian cities like hong kong or japan, the dont have jeepneys!why simply bacause it more of a problem than a solution!replace this with an LRT and a good bus system.

If you pass SRP, you know what im talking about, theres a freeway feel and theres no jeepneys that makes a stop anywhere!

agree! as long as the PUJ are still there, it will not be able to solve the problem.

They should abolish the PUJ and change it to a PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION BUS.

We just take an example: Like Singapore Bus Services System:
Every town they have Bus interchange and Terminals... they installed a designated BUS STOP... the BUSES have an interval of 15 mins...

By this system, it will help to ease the traffic because the buses are few compare to the PUJs...The commuters will be taking in the designated Bus Stop and alight also at the designated bus stop...

It would be cost-effective if they follow this system...

... PUJ cannot be abolished that easily because that is one of our national transportation , no other jeepnys are found in the whole world. A lot of people will loose their jobs. The most important thing here is that the Discipline of the Drivers. Pataka lng ug hunong pati sa dalan. most of the drivers are just elementary undergrads. Less Educated and hard headed.

Agree ko ana. Puj ang pinaka paspas ug affordable. You can't wait 15 min. until the next bus will come. Daghan kaayo ma late. 80% walay private car or dili maka afford ug taxi. Kinahanglan sad ug dako na budget to have MRT in CEBU. FLYOVER will be good enough. Slowly we can see the difference and improve later.

dili man unta na ing-ana ka traffic kung gitarong lang gyud nang ilang road widenning..
unsaon taman nga wa man gihuman...gi corrupt man ang kwarta..
awa nang foodland diba bottleneck na..mao nay nakabahog tae sa nag project anang road widening diha..

i encourage everyone not to vote to the politician kung kinsa mana nga project..kay wala gyuy ayo...
