Default War Has Begun! ..Turkey Authorizes Military Operations in Syria

Turkey sanctioned further military action against Syria on Thursday and bombarded targets across the border with artillery for a second day, raising the stakes in a conflict that increasingly is bleeding outside Syrian territory.
Although both sides moved to calm tensions, Turkey's parliament overwhelmingly approved a bill allowing the military to conduct cross-border operations into Syria—making clear that Ankara has military options that do not involve its Western or Arab allies. It was the most dramatic escalation in tensions between the countries, which were close allies before the revolt against Syrian President Bashar Assad began in March 2011. Over the past 18 months, however, Turkey has
become one of the strongest critics of the Syrian regime, accusing it of savagery and massacres against the opposition.
The rebels who are trying to bring down Assad have used Turkey as their base, enraging a regime that accuses foreign countries of fomenting the unrest inside Syria. The spark for the latest hostility was a mortar shell fired from Syria that slammed into a house in the Turkish border village of Akcakale on Wednesday, killing two women and three children.

The Turkish response to the Syrian shelling was swift—it fired salvos of artillery rounds inside Syria, contacted its NATO allies and convened Parliament for a vote authorizing further cross-border military operations if necessary. The bill opens the way for unilateral action by Turkey's armed forces inside Syria. Turkey has used a similar provision to repeatedly attack suspected Kurdish rebel positions in northern Iraq.

Dili man gud sensational kung ang casualties kay mga combatants ra pud. Expected na man gud na sa ilang choices.. pero kung mga "women and children".. maka attract man dayon ug readership both sa print media ug sa net. Everything is business.. in life and in death.

What I meant was it's an atrocity only when Assad loyalists do it while rebels committing war crimes go unnoticed...

Turkey Attack On Syria: Russia Urges Country To Stay Calm, Show Restraint
MOSCOW, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Russia appealed to Turkey on Friday to stay calm and avoid any action that could increase tension with Syria after a series of cross-border attacks provoked stern warnings from Ankara.

The Russian statement was a response to the Turkish parliament's decision on Thursday authorising cross-border military action in the event of further aggression.

"We express the hope that the Turkish side will show restraint and will not take any steps that would lead to further aggravation of the situation in the region," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Turkish artillery bombarded Syrian military targets on Wednesday and Thursday in response to the shelling by Syrian forces and Ankara has made clear it is ready to launch more retaliatory strikes if the war spills across the border.

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday his country did not want war with Syria but was "not far" from it.

Russia opposes foreign intervention in Syria, an ally and arms customer since the Soviet era, and together with China has vetoed three U.N. Security Ciouncil resolutions condemning President Bashar al-Assad's government.

On Thursday, Russia joined the other Security Council members in condemning the Syrian mortar attack on a Turkish border town after Western members revised a draft of the statement to accommodate some of Moscow's concerns.

    It's a double edge sword...

Between that "pain in the @ss" Assad or another "Islamic fundamentalist" by these rebels. The West is left with no choice.

So the best move... we'll just standby and hang loose.
