One of my favorites on that era includes:

White Lion
Guns and Roses
Poison
Cheap Trick <-- This is a 70's hair band, ever heard of the song "The Flame"?, they made it big in the 80's
Warrant <-- another one of my favorite, like their ballad "Heaven"
Skid Row <-- Sebastian Bach the great!! I guess no other modern rock singer has the voice like him, he's still reigns as the man with an iron lung ...
W. Malmstien ... (did i get to spell it right?)
