I found a very very small gecko in my house - maybe 2.5cm long. He was dehydrated and having trouble walking because his back legs did not molt properly. He still had skin on his legs and feet, and already lost a toe on each back leg.
I sprayed water on a leaf and put him on it, and he licked up the water. Then I put a wet paper towel in a small plastic bin with air holes and put him in there. After a few days the dead skin mostly came off, and he is pretty perky now. But he still cannot walk so well. Only his front legs have grip.
I tried feeding him tiny ants, fruit flies, crushed meal worms. But he does not seem interested at all. He licked some kiwi fruit a couple times, but I think maybe he just wanted the water.
He seems pretty happy now. He likes to hang out on his belly on my finger, or else under his favorite leaf in his tank. But I am VERY WORRIED that he is not eating. It has been maybe 1 week now. Strangely he does not seem to be getting weaker. Is he eating tiny aphids or something I cannot see?
Does anyone have advice on how to care for him?
Should I feed him pin heads?
And does anybody know what species he is? (I hope the photo is visible)
