no sound iphone 4s

help guys i dont know what happend to my iphone 4s suddenly there is no sound coming out of it if i check in the settings the sound is enabled . if i play music and videos there will be sound coming out of the speakers but if i play other apps like games there is no sound. the other alternative i did besides powering it down (which didnt help at all) was to plug earphones which was a temporary fix since the sound are there once more but if i remove the earphones then no sound again.
