Mudpack Festival is celebrated in Murcia, Negros Occidental, cooccuring the feast of Saint John the Baptist and the start of the monsoon season. A symbolic celebration when the time man is closer to the nature. People in all walks of life gather together during the festivity in Mambukal in committing themselves for the conservation of the environment. It is a feast of ecological concern, and merrymaking adjoined.
The celebration centers on the harmonious relationship between man and nature. Artists all over the province meet and exhibit artistic talents through ethnic dances, crafts and music, which makes the event a festival of arts. The highlight of this emerging festival is a merry-making with dancers' faces covered with mud and bodies painted with Mambukal clay - a multicolored clay distinctively found in Mambukal. The festivity keeps the people reminded of the importance of the environment in our living.
