    Cool Gaming Keyboards! - Press2kill

Are you looking for the BEST GAMING KEYBOARD?

Whether you're into professional gaming or just casually play first person shooter or massively multiplayer online games you probably know how much of a difference the slightest advantage can make. Online PC games bring together a community of the most serious players around and matches are often won by fractions of a second.

    Choosing a Gaming Keyboard

The gaming keyboard that is right for your depends heavily on what types of games you play. MMORPG gamers, for example, may find that the raw number of programmable keys and macros that they can put into their keyboard is a priority while FPS gamers may want to focus on speed and precision.

    Features To Consider
Gaming keyboards are more complex than they appear to be (even if they look really complex to begin with). Don't choose the keyboard for you without considering these features.

    1. Macro Keys - Ever had the unpleasant experience of having to stop a game for 5 minutes so that you could go switch your load-out or weapons on an FPS game? Well no more. Macro keys allow the user to record certain actions to keys on their keyboard so that instead of navigating several menus to switch a weapon, you can do it with the simple click of a key.

    2. Mechanical - Mechanical keyboards are very unique in that instead of having to press all the way down on a key for it to register, that key will register as soon as it is pressed even a tiny bit. This has been proven to be a significant advantage in many genres of gaming. Especially RTS/Strategy games.

    3. Wireless - If your someone who likes to move around a lot with your keyboard, or have a PC hooked up to a TV, you may seriously want to consider having a wireless keyboard. They are easy to deal with, but you have to remember that they don't run on nothing. If you have a wireless keyboard, expect to be charging it every now and then.

    4. Backlit Keys - Like sitting in your basement at 2 in the morning playing video games? Your going to need backlit keys. Backlit keys are simply keyboard keys with small, bright lights underneath them that illuminate the lettering on the keys. This makes them very easy to read in the dark.

    5. Anti-Ghosting - Keyboards usually have a maximum of 3 keys which can be pressed down at the same time and still work instantly. Usually pressing down on too many keys at once will result in a series of annoying bleeps. Anti-ghosting removes that problem by allowing you to press as many keys as you want, with all of them registering instantly and without any bleeps. For example, if you wanted to crouch, roll, get back up, shoot, and duck all at the same time, it would work with anti-ghosting.

    6. Profiling - This feature simply means that you can instantly switch key configurations for different games. Of course you want a key configuration for DiRT 3 different from your key config for Borderlands or COD.

    Best Gaming Keyboards

    1. Razer Blackwidow Ultimate
    Priced @6000

    Macro Keys: Yes
    Mechanical: Yes
    Wireless: No
    Backlit Keys: Yes
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

It's no secret that Razer makes some of the the best gaming peripherals in the world, and the Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth Edition is their masterpiece. Weighing in at just 3.31lbs, the BUSE is a very lightweight keyboard, and features extreme anti-ghosting, and 5 macro keys, along with nearly silent keys with fantastically lit blue backlit keys with 5 levels of lighting,. However, at a price tag of $139.99 on the official Razer website, you will want to seriously consider buying this keyboard before doing so.

    2. Cyborg V.7
    Priced @ $70 (amazon)

    Macro Keys: Yes
Mechanical: NO (usually mistaken as mechanical because it feels like one and the design)
    Wireless: Yes
    Backlit Keys: Yes
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

The Cyborg V.7 is simply one of the most beautiful keyboards around, along with being one of the keyboards with the most features. The V.7 has the option to change the colour of your backlit keys from red all the way through amber to green. In addition, the "Cyborg", WASD, num pad, and arrow keys can be independently lit from the the rest of the keyboard. There is also a whopping 12 macro keys available. In addition, there is a very unique feature that few other keyboards have. A touch sensitive, backlit keyboard LED screen to control your brightness, key lighting, volume, and more! At $79.99, this is a steal.

    3. AZiO Levetron Mech4
    Priced @$119.99 (amazon)

    Macro Keys: Yes
    Mechanical: Yes
    Wireless: No
    Backlit Keys: No
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

As it's name suggests, this keyboard is a complete monster. The Mech4 has attachable and dis-attachable num pad and macro key modules which you can simply attach to the main keyboard when you want easily and quickly. There is also a knob for controlling the volume, which is a nice feature. There is 5 macro keys to the left of the keyboard, with an extra 6 available should you decide to attach the macro key module, and if you decide to attach the num pad module as well, you can program those 17 keys with macros too, for a significant total of 28 macro keys. There are 2 notable cons to this keyboard. The first one being that even no weight is specified, we can guess that this keyboard is most likely very heavy. The second one is that there is no backlit keys. With an official price tag of $110, this is a reasonable keyboard to buy, provided you are willing to overlook the cons.

    4. Logitech G19
    Priced @ 7500-7900 PHP

    Macro Keys: Yes
    Mechanical: Yes
    Wireless: No
    Backlit Keys: Yes
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

The Logitech G19 is probably the most advanced keyboard to date. Yes it is backlit, yes it has colour changeable keys, yes it has 12 macro keys with up to 3 macros assigned per key, and yes it has pretty much everything else you would ever need for gaming, but it has one feature no other keyboard has. That feature is the LCD panel at the top. There are other keyboards that also have LCD panels, but none of them do what the panel on the G19 does. On the G19, server info, player info, and various other notifications are displayed right on that screen, giving you a huge asset. However, at $199, you better be a hardcore gamer if you buy this, and a very rich hardcore gamer at that.

    5. Thermaltake Ttesports Challenger Ultimate
    Priced @3350 PHP

    Macro Keys: Yes
    Mechanical: No
    Wireless: No
    Backlit Keys: Yes
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

Besides having all the standards of any good gaming keyboard such as a slick design, 10 macro keys, and backlit keys, what does this keyboard offer? The option to change the colour of backlit keys to 256 different colours, and you won't believe this... a small but powerful fan near the top of the keyboard to keep your hands dry and comfy while your gaming. Imagine mashing away at your keyboard in a serious gaming competition while have a nice breeze glide over your fingers? Heavenly.

    6. Steelseries Merc Stealth Edition
    Priced @ $90

    Macro Keys: Yes
    Mechanical: No
    Wireless: No
    Backlit Keys: Yes
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

Take a nice long look at the Merc SE. Notice anything different from the usual keyboard? How about EVERYTHING? All the terrain keys (numbers, arrow keys) are tilted at an 11 degree angle to optimize gaming. This allows the user to rest their palm while having all the keys they need within reach. Looking for macro keys? Well you can program every single key on the Merc with a macro. As with some of the other keyboards listed, this keyboard can also change the colour of the backlit keys. You can change the colour to blue, red, or pink! At $89.99, you will either love the Merc or hate it.

    7. Mionix Zibal 60
    Priced @ 5900 PHP

    Macro Keys: No
    Mechanical: Yes
    Wireless: No
    Backlit Keys: Yes
Anti-Ghosting: Yes (6 keys able to be pressed at one time)
    Profiling: No

Simplicity is best. That is what I see when I look at the Mionix Zibal 60. There are no macro keys and no profiling at all. However, what it does have is a lean, slick look. Reviews have reported that while these missing features may be nice to have, the Zibal doesn't feel lacking. If simplicity is your thing, and you aren't looking for a whole lot of features, this may be your keyboard. However, at $99.99, there are keyboards out there with more features for that price.

    8. Corsair Vengeance K90
    Priced @ 6100 PHP

    Macro Keys: Yes
    Mechanical: Yes
    Wireless: No
    Backlit Keys: Yes
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

The Corsair Vengeance K90 is a fully fledged gaming keyboard with everything you would need for a full, pro gaming experience. 18 macro keys, up to 50 profiles, backlit keys, and fully mechanical keys. In a addition the keyboard is super slick, and the great pull factor (for me at least), is the the bottom of the keyboard, which is made to be very soft to support your tired, game hungry wrists. At $129.99 though, you may want to consider something else, although the K90 really does have it all, and more.

    9. Logitech G510
    Priced @ 3900

    Macro Keys: Yes
    Mechanical: Yes
    Wireless: Yes
    Backlit Keys: Yes
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

The G510 has absolutely everything any gamer would ever want in a gaming keyboard, plus, it's wireless! This Logitech keyboard features the same LCD display found on the G19, as well as the same ability to customize the colour of the light on your backlit keys. In addition, the G510 features ports on the keyboard for headphones, mics, and headsets. The question your probably asking now is, "Why does the G19 cost $80 more?". Well the answer is that the G19 features a more advanced screen, better backlit lighting, and some believe, a better keyboard layout. Despite that, the G510 is a gaming kraken and should be a serious option for any serious gamer.

    10. Microsoft Sidewinder X6
    Priced @ 3500-4000 PHP

    Macro Keys: Yes
    Mechanical: No
    Wireless: No
    Backlit Keys: Yes
    Anti-Ghosting: Yes
    Profiling: Yes

The X6 is a smooth, serious gaming keyboard with a couple of unique features. The big one being that you can attach and dis-attach the num pad, similar to the Levetron Mech4. In addition, the X6 has a "cruise control" function that allows you to continue the action of a key without continually pressing it. You can do this with up to 4 keys. There is also 2 dials located near the top. One for adjusting the colour of the backlighting (red), and another for controlling the volume of the keyboard. For $79.95, this is a fantastic keyboard.
