Following ASRock's early revelation of its Q77 motherboard, Gigabyte has decided to reveal its own Q77 motherboard in the shape of the GA-Q77M-D2H. For those not familiar with Gigabyte model names this is a micro ATX board with Ultra Durable 4 Classic and a wide range of display interfaces.Just as the ASRock board we saw a few days ago, Gigabyte supplies Intel's Small Business Advantage software with the Q77M-D2H and you get exactly the same functionality in this case. The board itself is slightly different though, but not majorly so. What did strike us as highly unusual, this being a Gigabyte motherboard after all, is that it only has a single BIOS chip, not something we'd expect on a motherboard for the corporate market where reliability is everything.
In terms of expansion slots, Gigabyte has gone for a single x16 PCI Express 3.0 slot, a second x16 PCI Express slot with four lanes of bandwidth, a single x1 PCI Express slot and a PCI slot. The board only sports the standard six Intel SATA ports, i.e. two SATA 6Gbps and four SATA 3Gbps, so no big surprises here. Just as with the ASRock board, there are plenty of pin headers on the Q77M-D2H, as we have one for a pair of USB 3.0 ports, two for four USB 2.0 ports, two for a pair of serial ports, one for a parallel port and oddly enough one for a debug port which is apparently meant for some kind of debug card.
The rear ports consist of a pair of PS/2 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port connected to an Intel Gigabit Ethernet controller, 7.1-channel audio with optical S/PDIF out, a DisplayPort, HDMI port, DVI port and a D-sub connector. Gigabyte has also built in a TPM solution onto the motherboard itself rather than just proving a header for a TPM module. We're not sure if the mix of features is what a medium size business would be looking for, but if nothing else this could be an interesting alternative for someone that needs TPM support on their home PC but still wants something that's a decent all-around machine. Sadly we don't have any details in terms of pricing for the Q77M-D2H, but we'd expect it to be available shortly.Source: Gigabyte
