Default electric vehicles & hybrids: reviews, tips, converstions, and DIY projects

with gas prices rising and pollution killing us let's start looking at green machines

this thread is for the reviews of electric/hybrid vehicles and for discussion of those converting from gas engines or building their own from the ground up.

right now electric bikes are starting to hit the market... there are those which are peddle assist and those which are full electric vehicles. I've also seen conversion kits for bikes (not sure if those are available here though).

but what about for those who need more than that?

now we got a VW Beetle gathering dust but my father-in-law doesn't want me to touch the classic which he plans to restore. but I can play around with the multicab.

anyone know where to get good motors? and what would be better AC or DC?

i own an electric scooter. anyway there are a few companies that do assemble electric vehicles as well as bikes and motorcycles

this is where i bought mine. they also sell electric cars problem is range is far too limited around 60 km per charge, in a real world situation you'll probably get around 40km per charge. mao ni ang link. https://www.facebook.com/pages/DC-El...32256523518197

there is also one in palawan which also sells conversion kits as well as e vehicles

thanks for the links will have to try to visit the place in Davao when I go there next week or so

but at the moment I could only probably afford the 1500Watt scooter

though little by little I'd like to try and work on a DIY project with a car

for those that think electric cars are slow... meet the Black Current
that would be the black VW Beetle on the left that did the quarter mile in 9.5 seconds

yeah the 1500 watt looks tempting. base on experience the 500 watt motor is ok for short trips and can manage with a max speed of 45kph on it's own power. gravity on the other hand can help you reach at 60kph hehehe.

my only problem with it is the stock batteries. "china" very bad memory effect and seems to degrade faster than what i expect.
a brushless ac motor is better in terms of life expectancy than the dc the good thing about the brushed dc is the higher torque. yet with only 1500km worth of use and drive i can feel that the motor is starting to give in. and sense that replacement is inevitable

I think lead-acid batteries is the best for now... regular car batteries

for a motor I'd like to have one that's regenerative. os able to charge the batteries when breaking or heading downhill

one type motor I find fascinating are hub motors

speaking of lead acid, mas nindot gamiton ang deep cycle lead acid battery than a conventional type nga lead acid car battery, pero mas mahal lang jud xa, mao ni nga battery kanang gpang gamit sa sa golf cart

I want one of those!!! that would be sooooo cool! pero ang problem with most electric vehicles karon is range.. no question in speed and power.. I'm also thinking of investing baya on a e-bike for short trips(since it's easier to find it here and much more "affordable")... a electric car would be better though
