    Default Macbook Pro 2012

Since there's been a lot of chatter on the net about the new MacBook Pros I thought of posting a thread for a nice discussion. I've been following updates and reading extensively on rumors about the new Lappies for Apple as I may be in need for an upgrade , yup cobwebs all around , i'm still using an old x61 Lenovo Thinkpad , its a nice little piece that gave me several years of stability but jumping on the apple bandwagon is inevitable, there's just a bunch of new technology in the product that's awesome and it feels time to upgrade, well rumored technology hehe.

Didn't post this in the Computer and Accessory section because I felt this category was home to anything Apple.

Here we go and start the countdown to the new Macbook 2012 , a summary of what i've read.

There has been pulling back of supply which will tell you something is coming up in a month or two , plus WWDC is around the corner somewhere mid june probably in Frisco, meaning Apple loves to surprise people , yup we all get it.

So what makes The Macbook Pro 2012 stand out in chatter , lets list it down.

    - Ivy - Intel has come out with a new set of processors also known as Ivy Bridge , yup apple needs a new processor upgrade and this chip will likely be in the new line. The chip being tested was the Core i7-3820QM, a 2.7 GHz processor with turbo speeds up to 3.7 GHz paired with Intel HD 4000 graphics.

    - Graphics - Personally, I prefer dedicated graphics under the hood but the arrow points to a more integrated one with Intel's HD 4000 - they say this will suffice but ....... Dedicated! , looks less likely. Overall I don't play games on the lappy but do a lot of editing , so this would be enough.

    - Re design - it will be much thinner and slimmer , more like the MacBook Air form factor , in fact apple may move into one total design for its laptop line. Personally i think this is a good move , instead of confusing customers you get one design in different sizes which work. With the smaller design Apple is pushing for loss of optical Drive and possibly the Ethernet slot. Which brings us to ...

    - Better and Larger Battery - Apple is looking to continue to make your Macbook run longer without charging often, hence trimming down some hardware we may not need moving forward plus a better effecient way of eating away at battery power , if optical drive is truly taken out imagine the free room in there.

    - Retina Display - Like the new Iphone , Ipad , Apple is looking to place this on the new Macbook Pro line , a quick refresher , it doubles the resolution of current models. I.e Say the current 15 inch models packs 1440x900 , with the new high resolution your looking at an amazing 2880x1800. A really crazy thing is Ivy Bridge processors are known to support resolutions as high as 4096x4096 imagine that! Whew!

    More updates:

    • Thunderbolt Port
    • Full-Surface Trackpad with “accidental touching” sensing
    • Surround Sound System
    • Mountain Lion

    Newer Updates:

    • LiquidMetal Technology
    • From SSD only to SDD + HD
    • Larger Battery could be final

    Feel free to post!

    More new news today:

While SSD has been rumored as a stand alone drive, the winds are changing for SSD + HD for cost purposes. It also back up claims for a bigger battery as quoted here from IBT - "although the space which was being used by the optical drive will now be occupied by a more gigantic battery and an SSD boot drive to take down costs for the unit substantially - that SSD being just for the OS."

Wanted to share this post from another thread that I responded as this is relevant to the Macbook too.

I read a recent article about liquidmetal and inspight a lot of chatter about this metal being used for both Iphone 5 and Macbook Pro 2012 , it is still doubtful , I share the same views with one of the inventors of Liquidmetal technology, Atakan Peker. His views are this ,

[Liquidmetal] is a completely new and different metal technology. Therefore, there is no suitable manufacturing infrastructure yet to take full advantage of this alloy technology. For example, I estimate that Apple will likely spend on the order of $300 million to $500 million — and three to five years — to mature the technology before it can used in large scale. … Although Apple has exclusively licensed Liquidmetal’s technology, I think they will find a way to use this technology as it gets mature.” – Peker

That is why Apple has only used this technology on the SIM-ejector pin for the iPhone. I have also read another article about Liquid Metal not being fully tested for phone and internet. As this article suggests

"The only problem that exists here is the relative lack of testing this metal has had in the fields of wireless data and Bluetooth – and services of that nature. We’ve heard several sources speaking out against the iPhone with Liquidmetal casing for that very reason as well."

So overall with articles sprouting out close to WWDC set in June , I doubt this technology will be used , although APPLE has surprised me for some time , we shall see , i guess the words "Tanawon lang" comes to mind

On Iphone 5 June date , personally I doubt it but there has been a lot of chatter on the net about triple release of Macbook Pro 2012 , Mini Ipad and Iphone 5.

    Today's update:

There are rumors that the new MacBook's wont scale down to the size of the Air but again loose its optical drive and tells us of SSD for Os with HD for data. They were able to create what it will look like , its great we get a bigger battery too, although wanted SSD all the way. Check out illustration

The top image is the real thing and the lower one is a mock illustration of what it may be.

    awesome stuff

    Todays Update:

There are talks now that Apple may not push through with dual hard drives for these reasons:

First, too much juice , and apple wants looks to be efficient in that sense , hence cutting optical and adding a bigger battery.

second, rumors saying apple now plans single 200 gig something SSD , they want for consumers to use cloud.

kinda makes sense on a business standpoint , we shall see .... If this happens , people that expect say 500 to 1 terra drives on the newer macs may feel short and apple pushing consumers to use cloud.

@Blu , personally I doubt if they will introduce liquid metal technology this year , my 2 cents ...
