PROBLEM: after cleaning GPU. PC won't BOOT. keeps RESTARTNG.

SOLVED ALREADY:

bro thanks for reminding me about proper contact between the gpu and heatsink.

-I checked if there's really enough contact between the gpu chip and heatsink. I observed that the pea-sized(w/c is actually too much coz the GPU chip is smaller compared to proc. chip) haven't been spread over. The contact is just localized at the middle portion(where i applied the thermal paste). I then removed the paste, reapplied a new one, and then spread it with a credit card as thin as possible. Gilili nako ug balik EUREKA! there was around ~.8mm gap between the heatsink and chip.

It's all because of this:


That brown knot isn't supposed to be there. It should've been placed at the back of the board holding the screw w/ spring. I misplaced it.

My computer doesn't have any problem beforehand. I cleaned my CPU, MOBO and GPU today because too many dust accumulated already. Until this problem came in.

Here's my CPU spec:

AMD Phenom II X2 555BE
Asrock 880GM-LE
1GB Inno3D Nvidia GTS450 DDR5
2GB Kingston ddr3 RAM
FSP Supersonic 550w 80PLUS

My video card:



Here's the problem:

Power-on self-test (POST) recognizes my GPU.
But right after POST, video card fan makes this very loud spinning noise. It's spinning so fast.
And right after, computer keeps on restarting. I can't boot at all.

If i were in ur place mao ni ako i-try.

1. Double check power to videocard, if naay lain 12v rail ang psu, try plugging it to that one.
(also double check that power cable connected to the board to power the pci express)
2. Double check the videocard's contact to the motherboard. Basin lu-ag na ang pci express slot.
3. Try installing the card into another pc just to be sure its not the pci express slot
Or
4. Try installing another card into your motherboard to rule out lang nga pci express slot gyud.

If di gyud gihapon this is when i usually start to think about Rma na. What brand imo videocard?
Usually 1 year warranty kasagaran cards. Palit usually has 2 years warranty.

If out of warranty na, try mga hardware level repair shops.... If ur feeling adventurous there's the oven trick.

Use on board video without the card. If you think the vid card is the problem just make it run just attach ram and hd

I have tried suggestion 1 and 2. di pa ko katry anang 3 & 4. wala jud ni problema ako videocard beforehand bro. Igo ra ko nanglimpyo sa CPU kay abog na. Until this problem came in.

unsa na alcohol imo gamit ani sir? dili man ta pwede ang alcohol, pwede raman kng cotton lng or buds imo gamit, nya ang pag remove sa paste pwede raman soft cloth or cotton.. unless u know the content of the alcohol ur using, basin isog ra au na..

by the way sir nag butang kag paste sa imo gpu tapos nag butang nsad kag paste sa heatsink? ang gpu ra butangi sir. ang heatsink na bahala ana mo katag dili baya angay pasobraan ug butang ug paste na..

dili bitaw recommended ang alcohol kay naay water residue not unless 100% alcohol. suwayi daw og plug-unplug ang vc sa slot. if naa kay blower, i blower ang slot basin hugaw pud.

dili man na angay sir.. cotton nlng jud sir or soft cloth nlng jud..

kng scented patay ka, scented alcohols contain perfume oil. oil is an enemy of electronic contacts, no matter how small the quantity.

Naa pa jud moisturizer na moisturize imo GPU hahaha , sa imo unta to kamot gi pahid dili sa PC

pwede man ta maggamit alcohol atleast 80% siya....ako bro hilig man sad ko buki2x pero dili sad ko palibi butang alcohol reheat nalang na bro gamite blower......
