Hey fellow iStoryans! Reading comprehension by far has been the perennial problem among students both in the private and public schools. Even with the advent of the internet, some students especially in the rural areas are still amiss in terms of getting hold of books not only for instruction but also for general reference.
Last week alone, I visited a school in Bislig, Surigao del Sur and found out that they don't even have their own library (add to that their shortage of books for classroom use). What better way to help students improve their reading comprehension is to help them get access to books. I was thinking of donating books for the said school and other neighboring schools.
But I could not do this alone. I need your help. If you have books you have outgrown (like clothes) and have collected dust on your bodegas or storage rooms, on whatever subject, topic and genre, as long as they are still useful, I would very much welcome them.
Please the books have to be still USEFUL, not necessarily new but can still be used as reference (if they have already been answered, i.e. workbooks or worktexts). Most preferable are those books for Grades 1-6, workbooks or worktexts. Encyclopedias and almanacs are also accepted. Please let us do away with books that are almost of garbage quality.
You can send me a private message and I will pick them up for packaging and for sending to Surigao through postage.
Note: Please don't post off topics on this thread. This is very legitimate. If you have nothing nice to write, just don't write anything. Thanks in advance...
