iphone 3g doesnt have multitasking by default, what iOS are you on? 4.2.1? if you are you need to jailbreak to activate it pa, dont worry, if you quit the app, then wla na cya ni run sa background, only apps that run in background are ipod, messages and phone

on iOS 5+ f i double click my center button mugawas ang task manager as default double click home button. but on lower iOS it depends. try this:

From the home screen, go to Settings
In Settings, choose General
In General, choose "Home" about halfway down the screen
then custom your home button.
