    Default Calling U2 FANS

Especially the die hard 1980's U2 fans? Anyone out there?

Want to share that I finally have seen Bono and the gang perform on their VERTIGO World Tour in Amsterdam last Saturday (their 3rd day concert here in NL). The whole Arena stadium was packed with, well, a lot older people (my generation , 30's to 40's). Obviously U2 fans are old, ! But heck, we still rock!

The theme of the VERTIGO Tour is: COEXIST. As usual Bono was promoting and harping on controversial political and social issues across the world.

Here are some foto links during the concert. http://www.elevation-tour.com/gallery/

I am more of a fan from their old stuff too, circa 1980. In their newer 90's album, I only like a few songs. I guess U2 struck me most amongst the foray of rock bands because they are quite unique. They tackle social and political issues with their music and fame. Bono has been very active with these ever since in the past and up to now. Their songs itself reflects the struggle of every soceity. He was last seen together with the top world leaders in the G8 summit in Scotland, before they went to perform in Amsterdam.

The COEXIST theme has something to do with the ongoing war on beliefs and religion. 9/11 in NY, Osama Bin Laden, the overstated USA - IRAQ and Afghan war (Saddam and Taleban), MADRID bomb attacks, LONDON suicide bomber attacks, Theo Van Gogh (Amsterdam), who filmed a movie on moslem women oppression and also a columnist known to criticize moslems was killed by a radical Moroccan moslem, the neverending ISRAEL-PALESTINE war, suicide bombers in the Middle East, the gap and strained relationship between christians and moslems, and so on....

I would say that the most wild numbers during the concert were their old popular songs: One, Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day, Pride, Where the Streets have no Name, Lemon, etc... Another nice thing, the group also showed a recap (one song each) of their previous tours. Zooropa and Achtung Baby tours were the most impressive numbers because of the play of lights, the texts, and the themes on the stage and on the huge screen.

Fortunately, Bono still had a good voice even if it was their 3rd day concert in a row, and after a few concerts in other countries before that.
