Default For Most of Us Who Want to Graduate with honors

I don't know if there is a similar thread regarding this already.

I just want to share about the system of choosing the achievers in college. I had a friend who, after 9 years, found out she could be Cum Laude had she applied for it. I have nothing against the administrators in the universities and colleges. It is just that my friend could have earned what she and most of us wanted to earn had her grades been computed (which I think is the obligation of the teachers in a university or college). I learned that unless you apply for it and unless some teachers back you up (someone who believes that you deserve the honor), you could be one.

    Sigh. What a waste.

I know the title does not matter but it could have boosted her ego more. Fortunately, she's someone whose spirits are not easily to get trampled on.

What do you say? Is it the responsibility of the student to apply for the honors or should administrators determine them themselves?

I think its not that hard to get cum laude honors in this school. like they have so many cum laude awardees each school year esp. col of nursing, accountancy and other courses. so, no big deal for me unless im wrong with the school.

they shouldn't bother to do that if I were them... dili na man na kailangan karong panahona sa mga employers ang pagiging brite nimo sa imo college years.. its confidence, streetsmart and good wisdom na ang ila ginapangita na requirement karon aside sa imo educational attainment..

depende siguro sa university shey, naa man ko kaila nga ni graduate magna cum laude bisan wala ni apply pero in your story's case, dapat na advisan sad unta ang student nga qualified siya mo apply as cum laude, dli man sad tanan students sige monitor sa ilang grado...

IMO, basing on the given concept, the Teachers should be the one to determine and advice the students that they are qualified for the position of being a Cum laude of the school because NOT all students have the guts to apply for it and not everybody wastes a shit computing their grades; Therefore, the teachers should check, compute and rank the grades of their respective students.

U should observe your everyday surroundings on what is the trend in job right now.. graduating with honors is indeed a big advantage but practically speaking they are not that useful nowadays because employers need more than academic excellence, in fact, they don't even need that academic excellence anymore..
