I don't know if there is a similar thread regarding this already.
I just want to share about the system of choosing the achievers in college. I had a friend who, after 9 years, found out she could be Cum Laude had she applied for it. I have nothing against the administrators in the universities and colleges. It is just that my friend could have earned what she and most of us wanted to earn had her grades been computed (which I think is the obligation of the teachers in a university or college). I learned that unless you apply for it and unless some teachers back you up (someone who believes that you deserve the honor), you could be one.
Sigh. What a waste.
I know the title does not matter but it could have boosted her ego more. Fortunately, she's someone whose spirits are not easily to get trampled on.
What do you say? Is it the responsibility of the student to apply for the honors or should administrators determine them themselves?
