Medal of Honor: Warfighter is EA's upcoming Medal of Honor game according to Official Xbox Magazine. The sequel to Medal of Honor, released in 2010, will be released this October. It's being developed by Danger Close Studios and it uses the Frostbite 2.0 engine. DICE is not developing the multiplayer. We don't know much about the game just yet but we do know MoH: Warfighter will follow the story of Tier 1 Operations.

EA plans to reveal more details at this year's GDC in just a few weeks.

More Medal of Honor: Warfighter Details Surface

More details about EA's other modern military first-person shooter have appeared online.

Warfighter's story will again loosely follow actual events and has reportedly been co-written by real Tier 1 operators while off-mission.

Preacher, Voodoo, Mother and other central players from the last game will return, and one location that has been mentioned is a flooded Isabela City in the Philippines.

In terms of multiplayer, fans should be able to expect a hardcore one-shot-kill mode and some form of co-op support. Other non-U.S. Special Forces will be represented for the first time too, including the British SAS, Australian SASR, Polish GROM and German KSK, reports OXM US via CVG.

Medal of Honor Warfighter creates dotted lines to real world events by featuring real world terror threats in the game. The action focuses on hotspots often overlooked by the media, in places like the Philippines, Somalia, Pakistan, Yemen and more.

ABU SAYYAF

The Abu Sayyaf is an Islamist separatist group with ties to Al-Qaeda, based in the Philippines. The group appeared in the early 1990s, with the stated goal of creating an Islamic theocracy in Basilan. They have primarily acted through bombings, kidnappings, assassinations and extortion which fund the group’s continued operations. The group utilizes whatever weapons they can access and relies on grenades, improvised explosive devices (primarily derived from land mines), machine guns, RPGs and more.
The Abu Sayyaf was listed as a formal terrorist group by the United States in 2002 and while Philippine law and status of forces agreement prevents direct combat, US forces train local forces in counter terrorism and counter guerrilla operations.

BASILAN, PHILIPPINES



The Abu Sayyaf operate in Basilan, an island in southern Philippines. It belongs to Basilan Province with its capitol Isabela City located in the northwest. The region receives heavy rainfall due to its location, and is subject to frequent and violent typhoons.

Basilan is home to three main ethnic groups, the indigenous Yakans, and the later-arriving Tausugs and Zamboangueño. The Yakans and Tausugs are predominantly Muslim, while the Latino Zamboangueño are mainly Christian. Although the official language is Filipino and English, the major language is Yakan.

MEDAL OF HONOR WARFIGHTER

In Medal of Honor Warfighter, Tier 1 Operators are sent into this scenario in the midst of a typhoon to rescue government workers taken hostage by the Abu Sayyaf. This mission starts them on a hunt for a much bigger target and an even greater global danger.
