Thread: Cold boot

    Default Cold boot

bros, i encountered this problem just last week. the windows will not load after a cold boot(i mean when the PC is off for more than 6 hours). it will get stock on the windows window where the blue progressbar keeps on running across the center of the screen. i already did a clean OS reinstall but to no avail. i hope you guys would be able to give more inputs in this matter. i also checked the RAM but they are OK. i tested it with Memtest for 24 hours and no errors encountered. downloaded the latest video driver for nvidia 7 series videocard and forceware. for now, the solution i have is to reset the said PC after a cold boot.

i think the temperature of your CPU is the problem.

i had checked the temp. here's the result. idle for 15 mins temp is 40-41. load for 15 mins at 90%-100% temp is 50-52. the cpu cooler is golden orb 2 with pure copper base and aluminum fins with 120mm fan. three 80mm fan intake( 2 front and 1 side). 2 rear exhaust fans.

i think he means RAM. yup, reseated it already. i'm running Memtest again right now and it's already at approximately 300% still no error on RAM reported.

i think i'll just stress test everything. after the stress testing on RAM next will be stress testing on CPU then videocard as well. i'm planning to run Prime95, SiSoft and 3DMark06.

i have reformatted the PC for now and installed Win XP SP1 instead of SP2. i noticed it will load the OS much faster now. i will turn it on tonight after 11 hours of rest.

if it will load the OS with no problems then it may be the Win XP SP2 and its drivers that is causing the OS loading hang-up.
