MANILA, Philippines — The fact that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have yet to make announcements regarding their fight plans is a sign that efforts are being done to make their dream fight a reality.

“We’ll know in the next few days,” said Pacquiao legal counsel Franklin Gacal on Thursday afternoon, stressing that Mayweather is indeed determined – as they are – in trying to make the fight.

Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum is likewise not ruling out such possibility but maintained his original stance that if ever a fight is made, it has to be in late-May or, if possible, early-June owing to the construction of a makeshift 38,000-capacity outdoor stadium.

With time running out fast, both camps have set up solid backup plans: Mayweather collides with either Sergio Martinez of Argentine or Saul Alvarez of Mexico on May 5 and Pacquiao faces Miguel Cotto or Tim Bradley on June 9.

Gacal said “the date is the least of concerns” in making the fight as Mayweather continues to insists on May 5 and Pacquiao maintains its has to be late-May or early-June.

Mayweather is mandated to report for prison to serve his 90-day term on June 1 after being allowed by a Las Vegas judge for a postponement so he can fulfill an obligation to fight on May 5.

I cant agree you on this one.

FMJ is not only smart, fast, precise, very technical, but also he is strong. However, due to the kind of gloves he uses, (not the pucnchers gloves-) he doenst have that high KO rate.

The only fear on his heart facing Pac is that, he havent faced lately a fighter with Pac's caliber. The last was with Castillo where most boxing fans believed he lost.

FMJ is bluffing.. He is only showing to the world that he has interest in facing Pac because he lied and told the court that he is fighting on May 5th with Pac with it boasting the local economy blah blah. And Judge Saragosa granted his request as that is the World wants to see.

But in reality he doesnt want to face Pac with all his BS excuses.

Arum may his BS reasons not fighting on May 5 but it is only a counter to Mweather's antics. Conceding to Mw terms may mean giving up the fight already before it happens. He doesnt want his 0 to go.

Mayweather's ego is bigger than his head.
