    Default Chocolate and child labor

Please watch the video here: Chocolate's Child Slaves – The CNN Freedom Project: Ending Modern-Day Slavery - CNN.com Blogs

This is about child labor in cocoa plantations in the ivory coast, the major producer of cocoa in the world. they supply big names like Nestle, Mars, and Cadbury, sadly, none of these companies really had a strong plan of stopping child labor.

these kids dont even know what the cocoa's are for, they havent even tasted chocolate, ever. they're not paid for the job they do, they work for food.

if you can avoid buying or consuming imported named brand chocolates, please do. this is the dark side of the chocolate trade and this has went on for more years now, and these companies are enjoying the profits.

Though major companies have claimed that their brand is fair trade certified >> they get supplies free of child labor, or any other illegal means, child labor of the worst kind still exist today, and these so-called fair trade certified companies know it and do nothing about it.

i know i cant change the world by talking about it, but i had to let people know what is really going on behind the chocolate trade.

here is another good article for FYI: John Robbins: Is There Child Slavery in Your Chocolate?

Serg's and barnuts are actually my fave chocolates..

sama ba sa movie na blood diamond if something of great value is found in africa, the natives die.

ingon pa gani to ang extra didto "it's a good thing they didn't discover oil here. then we'd have real problems."

dugay naman ni gibalik2x sa bbc i think. the question is what are ALL the brands that do this? dili pwede excuse sa companies na "they don't have a strong plan". Just like the IT industry, there is a regulating body for hardware. Before an outsourcing company can do business with a chinese factory, the factory must first meet certain requirements and must comply with those requirements. One of those requirements being against child labor. In spite of that, maskin Apple naka-contract ug mga chinese factories that have children in their workforce.

and why aren't they capable of doing it like starbucks and their partnership with coffee farmers?
