Which do you people think (or based from experience) is better: PHP 5 or ASP.NET 2.0?

in terms of:
1. Development - w/c is easier to develop and gives the developer more control
2. Speed - (user/client side)
3. Maintenance - w/c is easier to maintain (lesser code and better layout)
4. Features - w/c has more features and is more capable of doing ... more
5. Flexibility - w/c one can integrate more with different environments
6. Support - w/c has more information and help available online
7. Demand - w/c is more in demand among businesses
8. Enhancement - w/c one can enhance our skills in programming more

In terms of speed sakto si cen mas kusog gyud ang ASP.NET kay compiled na ni cya compared sa PHP na interpreted lang. PHP pare-pareha ni cla ug level sa ASP nga dili pa .NET.

Sa Development, Maintenance, Flexibility kung asa ka nahanas adto gyud ka effective. But if you have tried the .NET 2.0 daghan nasad kaau nga nindot nga features nga makapadali sa developement ug uban pa. You can benefit much also the pagka object oriented niya.

In terms of dollar dman tingali sad costly ang ASP.NET because you can still use MySQL as the database then you can also download the Express edition sa web developement which is free gyud.

Para nako mas maau ang ASP. Then base sa sweldo sa programmer mas mahal gyud ang .NET. Daghan gyud noon ang gagamit sa PHP so ang disadvantage daghan kabalo then dili kaau mahal ang bayad.

pro kong mo ingon ka og pinas-pasay.. php vs asp.net.. ad2 sa asp.net... naka notice pud ko mas dako og sweldo ang asper compare to phpers. hehehe.

also.. i think ang asp.net maka support ug c# or vb.net coding style sakto? so you dont need to learn everything.. kong kamao naka og c# daan...

pro php akong gi gamit mostly if not all.. sa akong mga projects kai mao man gud mas widely supported sa mga small-medium hosting nya di pud ko kamao mo gamit og ASP.net no exp LOL though i know c# and vb.net.. waaa im very contradicting to myself XD hahaha happy coding!

ASP.NET 2.0 ako gitun-an karon. i also took a peek at PHP 5.0. and for me, naa sila pros and cons. one great advantage of PHP over ASP.net is ang iyang support community. daghan man gud free scripts online, daghan forum, and daghan kabalo so daghan makatabang sa pagkat-on. and also one big advantage of PHP is it can be run on anywhere and ma-connect on any database. unlike ASP.net nga SQL Server, Access, and Oracle ra gyud. and experts, correct me if i'm wrong but one disadvantage pud sa PHP is dili siya completely Object-Oriented or naa features and OOP nga wala sa PHP. unlike ASP.net.

but one thing i like lang gyud ug maayo sa ASP.net 2.0 version is the Master Pages. dali ra gyud ang pagdevelop and pagmaintain sa imo trabaho. ma-minimize gyud ang HTML codes, and mas makafocus ka sa functionality sa imo site.

naa sad features and MS Visual Studio 2005 and sa Visual Web Developer sad nga drag-and-drop lang nimo ang mga controls - for example "LoginBox" or "DataGridView" click-click lang ka gamay para sa connectionString and bam! naa naka access sa imo database without writing a single code. personally, i don't really appreciate it that much coz as a beginner i don't wanna be dependent on it. but of course you can do everything manually through writing the codes yourself. and dili man gyud sad lisud sabton ang ASP.net codes.

im not sure, but i did some surfing and i compared ASP.NET 2.0 websites and PHP websites, and i noticed nga mas faster biya ang speed sa PHP. try ra gud ang http://msdn.microsoft.com or http://www.dell.com and compare it to sites like http://www.alibaba.com or even http://www.friendster.com. i don't know basig sa ila ra siguro mga images and graphics wala na-optimize maayo sa ila web designers but medyo hinay ang aspx sites than php sites. or basin tugon ra ni sa globlines. lol ~

naa pod kay point bro bsag taas2x imong observation, im learning dot.net bro hopefully ma fully migrate nako ako knowledge from vb6. One thing nga naka advantage sa .nET IMHO, ang reporting module naa na cyay crsytal report then kolba2x pod og graphical representation sa report like kanang mga statistics reports labi na gayod og medjo ajaxified imong reports hehe

and oh! for me mo matter jed and $$$ logic wise "kon mo income kag 100pesos mo gasto diay kag 150php?" remember nga ang PHP is an open source so sure thing maka menus ta sa development against .Net dev plus mahal ang web hosting kon sa .net against PHP if wla ko masayop. Then when we talk sa .Net express edition that sucks kay very limited ang controls etc. maau rana sa pareha nakong newbie, so we can't anticipate a competitive output if we use the express edition IMHO napogos lang nang microsoft og release sa express kay na pressure cla sa daghan open source nga maau na libre pa, then beneficail pod sa ila kon mag gamit ta sa express ed. kay apil nata sa testing, trabaho baya ng software tester instead of hiring e lure nalang ta sa express kay beta paman inig release ana sa full blown spoken $$$ nana hahaha

Mga higala based lang sa akong experience, if you will choose kung asa sa PHP or .NET imong kat-onon magdepende na sa imong purpose of knowing it. If you you want to create and maintain your own website so dako gyud kaau ug consideration ang cost and PHP is on advantage, but if you want to sutdy PHP or .NET ba in order to work abroad or for big companies advantageuos and .NET. Sa dotNET man gud daghan ka ug igo, Windows App (VB, C#) or Web((VB, C#). And cost is not now the issue sa mga dagkong company and abroad... Nya klaro sad ang support sa Microsoft.
