    Default Build Brainstorming

    1. Primarily for Gaming (Diablo III, StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, Skyrim),
    Secondary as Workstation (AutoCAD),
Lastly as Internet and Torrent Downloader
    2. I prefer 35~40k pesos only, but I can max it to 45k if deemed necessary.
    3. CPU only. I prefer uATX or ATX form factor.
    4. I might overclock, and apply liquid cooling, but I think the budget will only let me use air cooling.

Procie – Intel Core i5-2500k (or Ivy Bridge counterpart: Intel Core i5-3475S)
Mobo – ASUS Z68 chipset (or Z77 chipset that supports Ivy Bridge)
    RAM – G-Skill Ripjaws 8GB (4x2),
GPU – ASUS GTX560 Direct CUII
HDD – 2 Seagate 500GB in Raid 0 configuration, but since HDDs are so expensive right now, im thinking of an SSD for System, and HDD for Storage.
    ODD - Samsung 24x DVDRW
PSU – still choosing between Silverstone or CoolerMaster (750~800w)
Case – I like Silverstone, CoolerMaster or Thermaltake brands. I do care for the aesthetic value, but functionality is still my top priority.
LC – please suggest brands and model (optional depending on budget)
AC – CoolerMaster V8, or please suggest other brands and model

This project will be realized on or before February.
That’s the time D3 will be released. (yes, Im a fanboy since D2. Hehe)

I am aware that the Intel Ivy Bridge Infrastructure might be released on 1H of 2012. they even say its on march. Im interested to base my build on that infrastructure also for future proofing purposes. I am willing to wait IF its really worth it.

My biggest concern is that this rig might be a total overkill for the stated purpose.
That’s why im indecisive and I need your advices. Especially those from our subject matter experts.
I will gladly take your advices into consideration.
    Thank you!

Note: you may suggest an entirely different build. I prefer Intel over AMD.

thank you so much for the feedback.
im still indecisive though. im in no rush anyway.
i still have a lot of factors to think of. hehe
    thats why assembling is exciting.

regarding your suggested brands, are they really manufacturers or just brand labels? (for example, AMD RAMs are actually made by Patriot)
are they locally available in cebu?

the ASUS Maximus IV Gene Z68 is reaaaaaaallllly good, and its made for specifically gamers.
BUT, its reaaaaaaaaaaallllly expensive also. hehe
i think V-pro or deluxe/gen3 is enough for now becuse im not gonna be using multi-GPU set-up yet..
    thank you po sa suggestion..

if you like/want the inside of your case to be seen then get modular. (in short: transparent/accrylic sidepanel) because non modular has a lot of extra cables and they are one of the hindrance in the vintilation of your case also the reason of a poor temp inside. better get modular because you can choose what cables are you going to plug and keep the unused one.

Cable Management Should Be Done Properly.

i mean, those brands you suggested (larkooler and silver arrow), are they manufacturers or just brand labels?
i stated AMD just an example. im not gonna buy them. hehe

    difference of the two:

manufacturers = they make and sell their own products

brand labels = they dont make their own products, they just buy it from manufacturers and sell them under their own name. like the case of AMD RAMs.

yes. i get your point. it cost higher than non-modular but il be choosing modular then. hehe

which bring us to this point:
which brand of case or chassis nowadays have good cable management?

also, since its modular, do i still have to apply cable sleeving?

    please enlighten me. salamat. =)

    hmmm. i see.
ill take a look at them in a while.
i asked if its a brand or manufacturer because i think the warranty is different between the two.
and im particular about warranties. hehe
    manufacturers offer better warranties.
