well first of all let me tell you that its not easy! you have to meet a certain amount of body fat for your "six packs" to show, i think somewhere between 10%-15%. if you have more body fat specially around the stomach then no matter how much you train your abs your "six packs" wont show coz it's covered with fats! so loose the excess fat (if you have) through cardio exercise and combine it with your strenght training. and dont forget to eat your protein coz you will not build muscles without enough protein. don't just train your abs but your overall body like arms, chest, thighs, back etc..
how long before you get it? well it wont happen over night coz getting a six packs is a gradual process. depends on how well your body responds to training and exercise and how much time you spend on it. train at least 3x a week but not more than 4x a week. do not over do it coz muscles need time to "repair" after a workout and doing it more often than you should will not give you faster results. some people got six packs in as little as 3 months and some takes a year at least. ang uban ma pul-an nalang kay dugay kita ug result.
how did you got it? i did not get mine through doing thousands of crunches, sit-ups and lifting heavy weights kay kapoyan ko ana. i did pilates and i find it to be very effective for me. but then again depende ra nas taw. some might respond well to other kinds of workout. the most important thing is that you enjoy what you're doing coz if not then ma pul-an ra kag dali.
ma klaro ra after work out or ma klaro all through out the day? ok this question made me chuckle but anyway kung naa na kay "six packs" then ma klaro gyud na sya everyday of your life for as long as you have it, basta wala lay nag tabon na tambok sa imong tiyanbut remember if you stop working out then ma wala ra sad na sya.
genetics also plays an important role in shaping your physique. some people are just not really meant to have six packs.

this cant be achieved overnight. having a six pack needs a lot of discipline and patience, doing the right exercise and work out and regulating the diet. sit-ups wont do that good if there are excess fats in the abdominal area. this fats have first to be sweat out for exercises to take effect.
