The Department of Health (DOH) announced Friday that the life expectancy of Filipinos has increased from 47 to 50 years in the 1940s to 70 years Saturday due to a shift to a healthier lifestyle.
"The life expectancy of Filipinos is now 70 years," Health Secretary Francisco Duque told reporters during the weekly Balitaan sa Rembrandt Hotel forum in Quezon City.
He said a study conducted by the DOH showed that Filipino women generally outlive men by at least two years. Among those who usually do not reach the expected life span are those in stressful jobs.
