With Intel's ULV processors mostly ending up in Ultrabooks these days, it's refreshing to see something a bit different and Gigabyte has overahauled its Booktop series of convertible notebooks with a shiny new Sandy Bridge ULV CPU. The original Booktop, the T1125 was looking a bit tired specification wise by now, so this refresh is welcome.
The CPU of choice in this case is the Core i5-2467M which arrived all the way back in June, so in other words it has taken Gigabyte a while to get this 1.6GHz chip (with Turbo to 2.3GHz) into its Booktop. The new model is called the T1132 and the specific SKU with the Core i5 chip carries the N suffix and is currently the only new model, although we'd expect more SKUs to follow. Finally Gigabyte has also included Bluetooth 3.0 + HS, although this is a standard that has as yet to really take off.
Other new features include a chipset update to the HM65 chipset and slightly better graphics with a move to an Nvidia GeForce GT520M which should offer a small performance boost over the GeForce 410M found in the T1125. It should be mentioned that the T1132 supports switchable graphics for when you're running on battery. The rest remains close to the same , with a 1366x768 resolution 11.6-inch display with capacitive multi-touch, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, a choice of hard drive options from 320 to 750GB, a USB 3.0 port, an eSATA/USB combo port (eSATAp), an HDMI port, a D-sub connector, a memory card reader, a pair of audio jacks, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and a spare slot for a 3G mini PCI Express card. Let's not forget the optional docking station as well that also houses the optical drive.
