Backyard food production - fish and vegetables is ideal for retirees, housewives and handicap (except for the blind). Turning your backyard - landscape it into a garden with fresh vegies and Tilapia. This hi-density food production once set up properly and be designed to be user(easy to operate and maintain) friendly. If you are creative enough - you can use your water falls, and fountains as part of your aeration system. Hence, your garden landscape is both aesthetic and functional value.

Your hobby - is the answer to protecting our seas, oceans, forest and our planet earth. Protect mother earth and mother earth will protect us.

    Hi Kenny,
Thanks for asking. You will see the system working and you can construct one as well. You will learn how to maintain and operate. More action and less reading. This is the best way to learn and be innovative - i.e. handson. The tutorial lessons will be held in the same place where the systems are now operating.

The important thing is to get started and see how it works. I can send you tons and tons of emails regarding the system but would be useless if you cannot do it yourself and within your "budget".

    Hi monyita,

Thank you for asking and hope the following will enlighten you.

    a. Who - Joel "Esoy" Legaspi Vasquez - Mechanical Engineer - OFW from Singapore, learned Aquaponics in Singapore - spent thousands and thousands of Php, for the know-how not to mention the thousands of man-hours.

    b. What - Learn Aquaponics - Start it and finish it within budget,

    - Operate and maintain and sustain

    - DIY techniques to reduce costs using recycled materials, junks and scrap. (low end solutions)

    - "High end solutions" available for the "social and classy"

    c. When - At agreed convenience - one on one tutorial is okey - I am now doing this full time so schedule should not be an issue.

    d. Where - 0943 Mahayahay Rd, Bangak - Lapu-lapu City,

    Mactan, Cebu

    e. Why -

    1. Knowledge is power,

    2. You will be self-sufficient and sustainable,

    3. produce your own healthy, organic food - using sustainable methods. Learn to produce your own feeds(using the God given resources around you)

    4. Learn to construct your own systems with the materials around you, innovation and creativity. Learn to landscape-"functional and aesthetic" your place using vertical gardening. Nothing goes to waste.

    5. Use this functionality to produce food - circulation and aeration and filtration - creative thinking and ideas.

    6. Develop the expertise on a small scale and go big time.

    7. Rehabilitate existing ponds to increase productivity.

    8. See "Engineered Systems" by learning to do it yourself, with locally available materials. Accelerate your learning curve, reduce errors, fish-kills(like I did) and have immediate direction of what you want to achieve.

You will be self-sustaining during storms and calamities - because you can produce you own food.

    9. You are able to protect the environment turning it green and clean - zero waste. Let nature do the work for you - you just provide the infrastructure.

    10. Ideal for housewives, retirees, handicaps as well.

    11. Good health, is the greatest gift you can have for yourself and your family. (90% of illnesses comes from the food you eat)

This program of learning are for dummies like me, who learned the hard and expensive way, asking silly questions; but this is part of the learning process. The only silly question are those that are not asked...that was what my "guro" told me...So let's get started.

    Hi Kenny,
My fee, it is 1,500.00 Php per person. I was trying to negotiate with my Singapore partner to come over to Cebu but the fee would be about 8,000.00 Php plus plane ticket and hotel.

US contact - "Portable Farms" would be about 15,000.00 pesos plus plane ticket and hotel. If you go to the US that would be 600 USD plus ticket plus hotel etc., same with "Friendly Aquaponics".

The systems they have are usually fixed set-up and materials are expensive. I made it more "localized" - "inato" or "pinobre" - using recycled materials. So you can have hi-end or lo-end version.

I pushed the bar further up and applied it to "landscaping" - unfortunately, my membership level does not allow posting pictures. Hence, aquaponics principles can be used in relation to permaculture - and using waterfalls and fountains as part of the aeration process - functionality and design in your backyard. In effect, your fountain in the pond is an aerator and provide water circulation as well.

Those are some of my innovations - it is an exciting field to explore - I am designing for a client somewhere in "Busay" -
