I have been planning to have a meal at Simply J's fro sometime now. Tonight.... I finally did.
The first thing that you'll notice about the place from the outside is how small it is. But once you get inside, i amazingly sits about about 40 guests, more or less, comfortably. And the place is cozy too. It's got a homey feel to it.
Once seated, I was given a menu which offers surprisingly little choices. Let's see.... More or less there were about 5 starters, 6-7 salads, less than 20 main courses (pork, beef, chicken, fish), 8 pasta dishes, then deserts. Well, that is to be expected from a small and intimate restaurant.
I had a hard time choosing my meal but I think it's because I was looking for some prime cut steaks. However, I finally settled on ordering the porkchops and the taco salad. Service time was about average. When I got my order, I was surprised, again, by their serving. It was a lot. And to think I'm used to eating a lot. Hehehe The salad was amazing. I could have eaten the salad alone for dinner and not mind having anything else. The vinaigrette dressing was savory and not too oily. As for the pork chop, it was a straightforward dish. The slices of the chops were a little bit on the thin side. It has a gravy which I particularly like as it is not too strong that it masks the taste of the meat.
All in all, I was really satisfied with the food. As for the menu, they could have put in more choices. It will eventually. I assume that as of the moment, they are more concerned with serving consistent dishes that is why the menu is scant. The place is 5/5, service 4/5 (they forgot my coke, hehehe), food is 4/5, value 4/5 (it is not a cheap restaurant but the food is great).
