Opinion for Acer Aspire 4750G w/ i3, Nvd GT540M

Hi Istoryans,

I would like to ask people who bought and tested this Laptop particularly the one with i3-2310 (2.10 GHz) and Nvidea GT540M (1GB). I know I have to read reviews, and surely I did already, but I want to know some inputs from fellow istoryans and cebuanos. Is Acer a good brand compared to ASUS? How's the after sales service?

I'm torn between this and the ASUS K43SJ with same procie but with only GT520M (1GB) and P1000 cheaper (PC live).

FYI: I'll be using the laptop primarily for PP'ing photos and some videos. And of course mild gaming.

just bought awhile ago an Acer Aspire 4750G
now it comes with Intel i5 2410M and Nividia 540m 2Gb.

P30,900 0 % 12 mos. sa Acer store sa SM.
freebies logitech mouse and acer bag

can't give any personal reviews yet as i'm still in the process of installing an OS.
out of the box boot-up Linux ra ni cya.

if any of you is using this same model please post issues and comments here.

mao unta na ako paliton nga Laptop 4750G last september, pero gisayangan ko kay field ako work.. pagpatry nko sa octagon naglisod sila install sa OS mainstall man galing pero hinay, ambot ug ngano pud... din initan ko sa exhaust...

so ako gipatry ang asus k43u if no problem sa OS installation so far no probs encountered then ako gi feel ang exhaust, di man init... so walay pagduha duha adto ko hulog sa k43u....

ako coworker naa K43SV i5, so far ok ra man pud, pero sayang lang gihapon ky field works dili mamalmal ug tarung ang PC... then light commissioning program ra pud ang gamit sa work... init2x jud ang exhaust then gaitom na sa kainit...

thanks for input bai,

murag lisod bitaw pagsulod sa Bios to select a boot drive.
twice ko ngtry press F2, twice mo-diretso boot sa Linux.
got it on the third try.

relativelly murag dali ra pag-install ug OS
took less than 30 mins.
as per your observation nga init ang exhaust,
it made me check mine ok pa man.

ang hassle so far is the included window7 drivers are only for the ff:
Card reader
LAN
Touchpad
VGA
the rest you have to download here

btw, actually i was looking for the asus k43v pero order basis daw.

akua kay 4750g i5 gt540m 2gb, init jud kaayo ni nga latop kung mag games ku, muabot cya 80C and video card.. pero kung normal use lang, bugnaw around 35 to 40C..

naa koy natry sa Lenovo store, naay switch ila laptop para sa GPU, built in or dedicated GPU gamiton... kalimot lang ko sa model ato....

bro, naa ko acer 4750g i5 version, init jd cya kung mag games, like MW3 ,BF3, Skyrim, 2k12 in MED settings, as far a i have read, init jd na ang acer brands, pero ok kaayo ang performance

Realtek audio drivers from acer's website for some reason does not work for me on Window 7 SP1 64bit.
I downloaded audio drivers from Realtek itself.
before naa man ang Realtek sa taskbar ug Control panel now after some testing with other audio drivers dili naman mo-appear ug balik even after reverting the drivers.

The Nvidia graphics driver from acer website does not include the Nvidia Control panel
so i also had to download from Nvidia.

WEI score ( 5.5 with 2gb ram)

additional info lang
for those having bluetooth problems when upgrading to SP1 in Windows 7,
you have to download a separate bluetooth driver w/c is also available sa acer website.
the problem is, w/c i must admit also had me perplex for a moment, that after installing
the updated drivers and then when you try to send/receive a file thru Bluetooth Transfer(All Programs)
not only it doesn't seem to work but there's also no bluetooth tray in the taskbaras well.
And yet when checking the task manager, the bluetooth application is running in the background.

The solution is to press Fn+F3 key (turn on wireless and yes the same combination for wifi ) wherein thereafter Windows will resume installing the drivers as the built-in bluetooth device is now detected.
