MANILA, Philippines - Hunk actor Carlos Agassi has unabashedly admitted that he was in a relationship with a gay man for about a year.
Carlos’ revelation came during the media huddle for the Vice Ganda-starrer, “Praybeyt Benjamin.” Not only did he admit to having a gay experience but the relationship “made me a better person.”
“Dati mainitin ang ulo ko, ‘di ko alam ang gusto ko sa buhay, happy-go-lucky lang ako,” the actor revealed.
Although he is not encouraging anyone to go through that phase in life, Carlos thinks that “wala kayong dapat katakutan kasi tao rin sila, nagmamahal, minamahal, nasasaktan.”
Carlos, who shared that “ako ang niligawan,” described the relationship as such: “I enjoyed his company. ‘Yun naman ang importante. *** follows.”
And just like any other relationship, it has run its course.
“Nag-away kayo, nag-break kayo. Siyempre immature pa ako noon. Bata pa ako noon, about 17 or 18.”
But he has learned to respect his former gay lover.
“Ngayon kung magkita kami, ayos lang. Paminsan-minsan we bump into each other. Wala, we talk,” he shared.
Asked whether he’s the loud or discreet type of gay, Carlos said it was the latter.
“Nu’ng time na ‘yon discreet pero ngayon open na siya.”
Carlos is openly talking about his gay relationship because it’s only now that he has been asked about it.
“Wala namang nagtatanong dati, eh,” he quipped.
Meanwhile, another member of the cast, Eddie Garcia, revealed he also had a gay experience when he was in his teens.
“In my younger years, siguro I was 15 years old. Kailangan lahat ng bagay sa mundo, kailangan mong subukan,” the veteran actor said.
Playing a general in the movie, Eddie’s character would have the shock of his life after learning that Vice Ganda, who plays one of his grandsons, is gay.
