Default Craving video games but getting bored easily

I want to play video games. Always have. Everytime I get home, I want to just sit down and enjoy a game. The problem is I get bored easily these days. It hasn't really happened before, but nowadays I get bored so quickly I play for about 20-30 minutes and leave the game untouched for weeks. Has this happened to any of you before? Is this just a case of playing the wrong games?

The last game I finished was Witcher 2.
The games I played after that without finishing are:
    - Mass Effect 2 (3rd/4th playthrough)
    - Oblivion (3rd/4th playthrough)
    - Bastion
    - Batman: Arkham Asylum
    - Deus Ex (haven't even installed it)
    - Gears of War 1

Is there a game out there that could hold me for more than a week or two?

I finished Dragon Age a long time ago. I hated it (especially the repetitive gameplay), but I managed to finish it for some reason. Never touched it again.

PS: I think Bioware is overrated. They're great storytellers, but gameplay-wise their games are just poor.

From your list I would say that Batman:AA and Deus Ex are definitely worth finishing. Try buying minecraft, once you get bored of vanilla their are ALOT ALOT ALOT of mods that give you more gameplay. It would help if we knew what kind of games you are interested in.

P.S. I agree with your Bioware statement.

i can actually relate to this:

have not finished Crysis 2, got bored with it
Starcraft 2, i forgot that i had one
Deadspace 1and2, only played 20 mintes of it
bioshock 2 played only for 5minutes
i had Dragon age, didnt like it, so i sold to a friend, didnot bother getting the sequel...
witcher 2, i could give this a chance still...

Deus Ex, well im playing it now for days, still liked it
finished Mass Effect 2 for 4 times now
Half-Life 2 series, still loved it, dying for Ep3!
    etc etc...

Happens to me all the time... i think one of the main reasons why i don't finish games is the fact that i buy games without finishing the current one. for example, i just finished gears of wars 1 2 months ago...last time i played it was way back in 2007. however i do keep the games just in case for a rainy day.

just recently, it also occured with catherine. it looked like an interesting game and a genre that i was willing to try. about an hour into it i stopped...couple days later i bought star fox 64 3d...than a friend of mine game me monster hunter 3....to say the least, star fox and catherine has not been touched since

It's been happening to me currently. I used to finish games in one sitting before. I don't know why but I think it's because I'm usually dead tired after getting home from work. I have a lot of games on my steam account that I haven't even touched yet. It makes me sad.

haha not anymore. DA2 has a really shitty story.
    gameplay is preference tho.

anyway, try Demon Souls(PS3). it's gameplay was the inspiration for The Witcher 2 and since you finished that game you might like DS enough to complete it.
