    1. go get a computer
    2. setup a local network with or without internet, setup a dns server very important
    3. load a linux, any distro will do. you can use ubuntu or fedora.
4, install asterisk to a linux box.
    5. you need linux skills for this.
    6. you need ip phone, voip phones like ATA, softphone or cellphone that can support sip softphone.
    7. create a dial plan, setup a gateway to make calls to pstn lines, or get some sip trunklines.
    8. create extensions for the phones.

yes you can integrate your panasonic and your asterisk box. in your panasonic make an account for asterisk and in your asterisk make an account for your panasonic.

in your asterisk make dial plan to call out your panasonic and in your panasonic make a dial plan to call out your asterisk.

by the way in asterisk you can make unlimited extensions.

sorry im not familiar with those errors you mention.

if your PBX panasonic already had a trunkline from pstn network or pots. just leave it that way.

my assumption about your dial plan in your pbx on how to make a local calls to extension is by dialing either 3 digit number or 4 digit number, and for outgoing calls to pstn lines is just by dialing 9 as prefix number + the 7 digit number.

let us say if you want to call to asterisk extensions, in your panasonic configure a dial plan to make outgoing calls to asterisk; say dial 8 as a prefix number followed by the extension number.

and in your asterisk make outgoing routes to panasonic extensions, the good thing with the new version of asterisk, they have a prepend number to dial out, this saves time when dialing a number.
