Default The Hubble Ultra Deep Field - The most important image ever taken by humanity

This image is considered the image of the millennium, and simply, the most important image ever taken by humanity.

This is the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, taken by the Hubble Telescope of NASA, last 2003. This was taken in a small region in the sky where there are no stars that would block the way to capture this magnificent image.

Anyone who understands what this image represents, is forever changed by it.

But for the benefit of those people in which this image doesn't make any sense to them, allow me to give a brief, yet concise explanation on what the Hubble Deep Field is about.

As you can see in this image, it is full of galaxies. Yes. Galaxies. Every dot, smudge, smear that you can see in this picture is an entire galaxy.

Now why did I say that those people who understand what this picture represents is forever changed by it? Simple. This picture gives us the idea that we are so small in the universal scale. And there's more.

    I'll put things in perspective.

We live on a planet, that orbits a star.

The star is located in the Milky Way Galaxy and one of the 500 thousand million stars! That's a lot of stars!

This is the Pinwheel Galaxy, much like the Milky Way Galaxy, since it is under the category of a spiral galaxy. Each point of light in this galaxy is a star. Many of these stars have planets orbiting around them.

Looking at this image, the idea that the Earth could be the only planet that harbors life in the universe, appears ridiculous. It is much more likely, that there are many more planets like ours.

The Milky Way, is just one of the galaxies in the local group. And there are billions of galaxies in the universe.

Again, take a look at this picture.

That's the number of galaxies in the universe. Every dot, every point of light, is an entire galaxy.

Each galaxy has many stars. Each star has planets orbiting around them. Each planet, with a possibility of a civilization.

Earth's fate will not be caused by humans. Eventually, our star will develop into a phase where it will grow bigger. Enough to swallow the earth in the next three billion years.

That's a lot of time for us to develop a spacecraft capable of migrating to other stellar systems!

"Significance" is subjective. We may be infinitely small compared to the countless universes out there, but those universes wouldn't be anything 'special' unless someone attaches significance to them.

We should indeed be humbled and awed by the vastness of the universe and complexities of matter, but let us not strip ourselves of worth. After all, isn't a child worth more to his mother than any number of galaxies and multiverses?

That's a nice way of putting it ...

Back to topic: So are there any recent images? since that last image was a couple of years back

Our self worth is challenged by the images above. The number of possible civilizations that exists in our own galaxy is humbling. How much more in other galaxies.

You know what that image represents, is that our self worth, is delusional! Seeing that image will make you realize we are small and we aren't special! There is a great possibility that there are other civilizations existing, perhaps, 100 light years away? 1,000 light years away? Millions of light years away?

As what I said, we are just a speck of dust! And that's what I'm proposing.

And please, enough with the God topics! Your God has no bearing to this magnificent image!

I mentioned earlier, quit the religious talks.
