unsa man version sa OS nimo? are you using the router as your dns server?

try accessing the computer using Universal Naming Convention (UNC) ex. \\computer1\ if it does not succeed, try using \\ipaddress\ instead of the computer name.

Also ensure that both computers are on the same workgroup.

"ON" imong firewall sa XP?? if "on"..then include the "file and printer sharing" under sa exemption tab. =) if you have other firewall softwares (norton, etc.),...disable kuno and try balik.

straight na tanan bro... =) and matter gyud na ang cable kung cross ba or straight. =)

    * you use straight if you connect the device with a different device
ex: pc to switch, pc to router ---

    * use cross if both devices are the same.

ex: pc to pc, switch to switch, router to router. =)

Most of the new LAN cards today are auto-sense we dont need to worry about getting x-over or s.t.

Must be the default settings your OS. try modying your Local Security Policy @Administrative Tools.
