Default The REAL Solar Light Bulb

Most of you have heard about the projects being done around the slum areas of the Philippines, wherein a plastic Coke or Sprite bottle is converted into a "light bulb". Everyone can see that this solution has one very obvious drawback--it won't work at night.

Enter NOKERO, the REAL solar light bulb:

    ‘World’s Only’ Solar-Powered Light-Bulb | Gadget Lab | Wired.com
(from WIRED) When I was a kid, a solar-powered lightbulb was a standing joke. A light powered by light? That’s like perpetual motion. Impossible! (I was pretty nerdy even back then). But with the wonders of modern technology, the same technology that brought us food-pills and jetpacks, the solar-powered lightbulb is here.

Made by Nokero, the lightbulb is claimed to be the “world’s only solar lightbulb”, although it seems to work a lot like the solar-powered lamps that my father has had in his garden for years. Designed for campers, the light has four solar-panels which charge the battery by day and five LEDs inside which glow for up to four-hours at night.

Though, the light of the solar light bulb isn't that strong compared to the ordinary light bulb this will still help us save a lot of electricity.

Very practical technology. By the way, the nokero.com site has an application form for interested dealers.

it can light up upto 4 hours at night. hmmm. The battery will gradually loose its capacity to store power over time, so maybe after a year of usage its maximum capacity of usage after charging may drastically go down to 1-2 hours.

Marketing this would be easy here in Philippines should it cost 200-300 pesos more or less.

    Nice find btw.
